Prior to Monday's practice at Southern Methodist University, New Jersey Nets point guard Deron Williams didn't seem likely to re-sign with his current team unless they somehow added Orlando Magic center Dwight Howard. Judging by Williams' comments after practice, it's hard to believe anything has changed. If a player was committed to helping build a franchise that is preparing for a move to Brooklyn, they probably wouldn't talk about how much they enjoy playing in another building. "I always like playing here," Williams told reporters when asked about his thoughts on playing at American Airlines Center in Dallas, according to The Star-Ledger. "It's probably my favorite arena to play in. I just enjoy playing here I enjoy playing in front of my friends, family. It's always good they get the chance to come and see me play." Williams, a Dallas area product that graduated from The Colony High School, is a free agent at the end of the se...

Deron Williams reportedly told Mavericks he’d like to join them

In Sunday’s NBA All-Star Game, any talk of trade rumors or free agency is most likely going to center around the host team’s star attraction, Dwight Howard. But let’s not lose sight of the fact that there’s another big-time player in the game who could be up for grabs on the open market soon: Deron Williams. Williams is expected to opt out of his contract with the Nets after...

Nets coach: Cuban, Mavs could steal Williams

Nets coach Avery Johnson thinks the Mavericks will be a threat to take Deron Williams when he becomes a free agent.

Deron’s late 3 ‘All’ wrong

ORLANDO — Deron Williams had the chance to cap off one of the most exciting finishes in All-Star Game memory. The East, down 21 points earlier, roared back and were within two points when the Nets point guard lined up a 3-pointer from the left side with 8.9 seconds left...

Nets coach clarifies, thinks Williams returns

Nets coach Avery Johnson clarified his comments from Tuesday, saying he still expects Deron Williams to re-sign.

Suns-Nets Game Preview

Posted: Feb. 28, 2011 Deron Williams' presence has yet to help the New Jersey Nets end their latest rough stretch. A visit from the surging Phoenix Suns might further prolong that skid. Making his home debut with his new club, Williams looks to help the Nets avoid a sixth consecutive loss Monday night while hoping for some rare success against the Suns, who seek a fourth...

Realistic chance Howard ends up in Dallas

As members of three different teams, Deron Williams, Dirk Nowitzki and Dwight Howard all took the floor Sunday night for the NBA All-Star Game in Orlando. The next time all three are playing in the same game it could be as teammates. If Howard is not traded by the March 15 deadline, there's a realistic chance that the Orlando Magic center will be wearing a Dallas Mavericks jersey...

Kidd would share Dallas with Nets star Williams

DALLAS — Nets’ All-Star Deron Williams never has tried to hide his admiration for Jason Kidd. “Jason Kidd was a guy I grew up watching,” Williams said before the Nets’ 93-92 victory over the Mavericks Tuesday night. “Guys you grew up watching, you tried to emulate. They definitely had an influence...

Suns Need Overtime to Knock off Nets

By Scott Stanchak, Special to Posted: Feb. 28, 2011 Newark, NJ -- The Western Conference got a little lighter on superstars less than a week ago. Yet, for one more night, the Phoenix Suns had to face a former foe in Deron Williams. Monday’s game against the New Jersey Nets was Williams’ first home game with his new team since last Wednesday’s deal with the Utah...

Jason Kidd: Playing for the Nets Again a Possibility

Jason Kidd has repeatedly joked (we think) about wanting to become Deron Williams’ backup, and even though he continues to openly recruit the Nets’ star point guard to Dallas, Kidd says that he could end up playing in Brooklyn next season. From the NY Daily News: “Jason Kidd finally got his ring elsewhere, after a ‘migraine’ and years of listening to Bruce Ratner’s lip...
