Many people noticed that Deron Williams may have put on some weight during last summer’s Olympic Games. Adding to that, he also suffered an ankle injury during that time.
Williams recently re-injured his ankles again and missed the Brooklyn Nets’ final two games before the All-Star break. He had injections in both ankles this week and is expected to return after break.
As USA Basketball president Jerry Colangelo claims. the star point guard was overweight and not in shape during the Olympics.
“Deron Williams, for the Olympics was not in the best of shape,” Colangelo told The New York Daily News. “He was a little overweight, and I told him that at the time.”
Williams has dealt with several injuries this season. But Nets general manger Billy King argues that Williams was just one pound heavier than what he was when he first came to the Nets in a trade from the Utah Jazz back in 2011. King blames the overworking schedule Williams has gone through this past year.
However, Colangelo argues that it’s just D-Will who has himself to blame, as he was not prepared and not in shape. Colangelo mentioned Kevin Durant and LeBron James, both who had tougher schedules and are doing just fine right now.
“If you look at the track record of all the players who participated with us, how they came into their next seasons and had outstanding years,” Colangelo said. “So there are injuries that have taken place that have nothing to do with participating with us. If anything, they’re in better shape and they’re better prepared going into training camp with their teams.”
D-Will struggled in the Olympics, averaging about nine points and five assists and shooting 39-percent from the field.
“He’s a heck of a player, great guy, made a real contribution to USA Basketball,” said Colangelo about Williams. “And if he decides that he can’t participate because of his own health conditions, I’ve got a list a mile long of people who want to play.
“We take care of our players. Nobody is going to get hurt because they play for USA basketball. Just the opposite.”

Deron Williams: If you want me to play like I did in Utah, prepare to be disappointed
via NY Times:
When Deron Williams initially left Utah to sign his $98 million contract the fans of New York thought that they were getting the Deron Williams back in Utah. His struggles were attributed to pretty much whatever excuse he gave the media. First it was the Avery’s system, then it was the lockout and now the most valid reason of all is his injury-stricken body that...
Deron Williams can’t dunk anymore.
Deron Williams has been a shell of his All-Star self after signing a 5 year, $100 million contract with the Brooklyn Nets on an iPad. In this season, he is only averaging 17 points and 7 assists per game, the lowest since this sophomore year, if you count out the 12 games he played in the 2010-11 season. Injuries have definitely taken toll on the point guard, and it has completely...

Kris Humphries willing to miss NBA playoffs for start of divorce trial
Kris Humphries is serious about his intent to prove that Kim Kardashian purposely faked her love for him thus committing fraud in their marriage which would be grounds for an annulment, not divorce. The Walking Dead
You may have noticed that when you were voting for your NBA All-Star Game starters this season, there was a bit of a difference aside from the new names on the ballot compared to last year. Instead of voting for two backcourt players, two frontcourt players, and one center, the 2013 ballot was missing the “center” choice, and in it’s place stood another “frontcourt” slot...
