According to NESN, Celtics coach Doc Rivers spoke very highly of free agent Carlos Delfino, who is currently playing for the Argentina Olympic basketball team, and said that the Celtics "could really use him."
However, Boston's roster seems pretty set for next season, especially with the addition of Courtney Lee, so it's more likely that this is just wishful thinking on Doc's part, and he means it more as a compliment than that the Celtics should really pursue Delfino at this point.
"We've looked, and I wish we had the money to add him," Rivers told the Argentinian website Olé. "We could really use him."
The Celtics were reportedly among the teams expressing interest in the veteran swingman a few weeks ago, but the C's have since added Courtney Lee. Therefore,
they could only offer Delfino the $1.15 million veteran minimum or the
$1.96 million bi-annual exception, which probably wouldn't be enough.
