PLAYERS: Doc Rivers
TEAMS: Boston Celtics

With a slew of veterans with varying levels of experience, the Boston Celtics have the appearance of a veteran team. But as Celtics coach Doc Rivers points out, there’s more to having a veteran team than simply throwing together a bunch of guys who have been around the NBA block a few times. “Where I think people get mixed up, there’s a difference between a veteran team and a lot of veterans on a team,” Rivers said. “This is not a veteran team. This team hasn’t been together.” With so many new faces, Rivers was optimistic that they would develop a good rhythm about their play quickly. Rivers pointed to fatigue as a potential factor in the team’s play following Saturday’s loss at San Antonio. “You work on habits, you have to improve your habits,” Rivers said. “We see it on film. We’ll do it. And then we never sustain it.” via A. Sherrod Blakely, CSNNE

Doc Rivers Admits Celtics Are ‘Not a Good Team Right Now’ After Another Loss

The Celtics lost again on Tuesday night, something that has become quite the trend through the first quarter of the NBA season. The C’s, who were one game from the NBA Finals, just a few months ago, now find themselves sitting at .500 with a 12-12 record. They sit in third place in the Atlantic Division (six games behind the first-place Knicks) and are in eighth place in the Eastern...

Doc says Bradley ‘on paper’ should become starter when healthy

While the Celtics work through their rotation issues, another piece was added to the mix today with Avery Bradley returning to practice.  While it is still estimated that his return will be in early January, it does open up the discussion of minute distribution, specifically at shooting guard. The Celtics primary problem this year has been rebounding, much of which has stemmed from...

Your Morning Dump…where the Celtics D is flat out awful

Every morning, we compile the links of the day and dump them here… highlighting the big storyline. Because there’s nothing quite as satisfying as a good morning dump. “We’re not sustaining defensive effort for four quarters, getting outworked,” Pierce said. “It’s pretty much every night. Right now we have no identity. I mean, that’s just simple and plain. We’re...

Don’t Count The Celtics Out Yet

Avery Bradley returns to full practice Many fans had high hopes for the Boston Celtics this season with key additions to the roster and added talent. This season has been far from ideal and consistent thus far however for the Celtics. You would have to think it would take a little time for the team to bond and play with the chemistry of a championship caliber team with all of the...

5 Reasons to stay positive in the middle of this mess of a season

I read what everyone’s saying. I’ve had public and private conversations with people who, despite what decades of history has taught us, are giving up on this team before Christmas. And I’ve determined, once again, that I’ve got to be Mr. Happy Pants around here.  So here we are… for what feels like the fifth year in a row… needing a pep talk. Ok, here it is. First,...

Free Courtney Lee

Sing it with me now people: “All we are saaayiiiiiing, is give Lee a chaaaance.” Boston Celtics shooting guard Courtney Lee is a 27-year-old sharpshooter who can also finish at the rim, yet somehow, he’s lost minutes to Jason Terry and Leandro Barbosa. Like teammate Jeff Green, Lee is a natural-born starter who’s played on the bench for the past few seasons and are worse...

Celtics-Cavaliers Live: Back in Boston, Kevin Garnett Looks to Get C’s Back on Winning Track

Comments from the Other Side - Bulls 12/18

Another game, another Celtics loss.  It's not time to panic but I sure would love to see them get it together.  Bulls fans display their usual Rondo hatred and there's the obligatory wheelchair mention.  I've highlighted my favorites in bold.  What are yours?   I don't know about tonight, but we will beat these dudes in the post season if we meet.
