Fox Sports Florida:
MIAMI So much for Keyon Dooling wanting to join the Miami Heat.
The Orlando Sentinel had reported Saturday word was the point guard, who had been waived by Boston on Friday with the belief he would retire, had interest in the Heat. But the native of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., denied that.
"No truth!'' Dooling wrote in an email to FOX Sports Florida. "I will never play NBA ball again.''
After he was waived by the Celtics, Dooling's agent, Kenge Stevenson, had issued a statement announcing his client would retire.
"Keyon has decided that he has given the NBA 12 good years and that it's time to pursue other interests and spend more time with his family," the statement read. "He will never forget his time with the Boston Celtics."
Dooling, 32, confirmed his retirement in his email Saturday. In another email, Dooling indicated he didn't want to elaborate on his plans after basketball.
It seems unlikely the Celtics would have waived Dooling had there been any chance he would join the rival Heat.
Dooling averaged 7.9 points and 2.2 assists in his 12 NBA seasons with the Los Angeles Clippers, Miami, Orlando, New Jersey, Milwaukee and Boston. He averaged 5.2 points and 1.8 points in 2004-05 with the Heat.
But Dooling won't be making a return engagement with his home-area team.

It was a busy day for the Celtics. First they signed Darko Milicic and then they reported that Keyon Dooling has decided to retire. The Darko signing came up quickly, but it wasn't really a surprise because there were rumors that Danny had called him when the Wolves first waived him. The Dooling retirement came out of nowhere though.
My first thought was whether...
When the Boston Celtics waived Jermaine O’Neal last season, he was rumored to have interest in joining the Miami Heat. Only one minor problem existed within that theory: O’Neal had suffered a season-ending injury and wasn’t well enough to return to the basketball court for the season’s remainder. So when noise arised that Keyon Dooling now has interest in joining the Heat...
It pains me to say this, but the entire flexing squad of last year (as pictured above) is no longer with the Celtics with the news that Keyon Dooling was waived by the Celtics today. Dooling was a solid role player during his career in the NBA. He did great work for Boston behind the arc last season. But now, $29mil later, it’s time for Dooling to move onto bigger and better things, like family.
It was a fun 12 years Keyon, thanks.
The Celtics wanted Dooling to return because of his steadiness and veteran presence. Now they are seeking a replacement just a week before training camp.
“We’ll miss Keyon’s spirit and energy, both on and off the court,” said Celtics president Danny Ainge said in a statement.

First Ray Allen, now Miami is sniffin at the just recently retired Keyon Dooling. Is Dooling going to fall to the lures of Miami or stay retired? Keyon had the following to say to Fox Sports in repsonse to Miami:
