The Heat's win Sunday afternoon did more than put them a half-game up on the New York Knicks, it also meant coach Erik Spoelstra was the recipient of a special honor. Spoelstra will coach the Eastern Conference All-Stars on Feb. 17, the NBA announced after the Heat beat Toronto 100-85 Sunday. It will be Spoelstra's first appearance as a head coach in the NBA All-Star Game. He was an assistant for Stan Van Gundy in the 2005 game. Spoelstra has won the NBA Coach of the Month award three times in his career, and his teams have made the postseason in each of his four seasons with the Heat.
