Let’s be honest. Right now, the Celtics are looking the best they have in a long time. They have won their last six games including an embarrassment of the Los Angeles Lakers. Why is this so significant? Because the Celtics are “Rondo-less”.
Some are suggesting that the Celtics should trade Rondo, that they are fine without him. To these people, I say, “No.”. Don’t get me wrong, I love the way the Celtics are playing right now. Their ball movement is next to none and everyone is scoring. In their past five games, the Celtics are third in their conference in points per game, and second in assists during that period. Why? The Celtics have been forced to spread the ball. With Rondo on the court, he was the one for the most part who decided when to pass and when to shoot, but now, each individual has to make that decision for themselves. Each player is having to make a conscious effort to move the ball. This movement of the ball is giving several players double digit figures in points. Trust me, this is a good thing.
The Celtics need to play as a team, not as a group that follows a superstar. However, I do not endorse the idea of trading Rajon Rondo. Rondo is too valuable to this team. When he comes back, the Celtics need to use what they’re learning right now and apply it to his game. Yes, one could argue that Rondo often tries to do a lot of things himself, but it’s because he can. He is an all around great player and the Celtics could really use him right now. Not only does Rondo provide assists for the team, but rebounds, and most importantly vision. Rondo can see things on the court that most other players could not. He is a vital part of this team and if he leaves, it will hurt in the long run, not having an elite point guard.

After tearing his ACL, Rajon Rondo was expected to miss the rest of the season with the hope being that he could return in time for the start of training camp next season. However, Rondo has discovered that the tear is only a partial tear and he may be able to return sooner. How much sooner? There isn't an exact timeframe yet, but if we read between the lines, the indication...

The outlook was bleak.
Rajon Rondo's season-ending knee injury was certain to hurt the Celtics hopes for a playoff berth. How could Boston possibly survive without its offensive catalyst, the NBA leader in assists and triple-doubles and one of the best rebounding guards in the league?
But not only have the Celtics survived, they've thrived.
They're 6-0 since Rondo...
As a Celtics fan, I hate Kobe Bryant for a lot of reasons. But today, I really despise him…. because he said a lot of things that I really agree with.
In an interview with Jackie MacMullan, Kobe talked about the Celtics, the rivalry, and Rajon Rondo.
First, the topic du jour around Boston, the notion the Celtics are better without Rondo.
“You don’t want Rondo? Send him my...
When Celtics All Star Rajon Rondo was lost to a season ending injury he was dominating the NBA in triple doubles, even posting one in each of his final two games. In Boston’s first contest without Rondo, Paul Pierce managed a trible double of his own. During the C’s 5 game winning streak Pierce has continually put up some very Rondo-esque numbers. His scoring is down...

Losing Rajon Rondo hasn't yet posed a problem for the Boston Celtics.
That may change against the hottest team in the NBA - the Denver Nuggets.

Don’t tell KG the season is over. Under him and Pierce, the C’s are flourishing.
On January 25th, the Celtics blew a 27 point lead to the Atlanta Hawks and lost in overtime to bring their record down to 20-23 on the season, and continuing to wallow in the worst possible spot: not good enough to be a legitimate playoff contender, but not bad enough to to have a good chance...
In their first road test since Rajon Rondo’s injury, the Celtics were able to come back from 10 down at the start of the fourth quarter to beat the Raptors 99-95 and extend their win streak to five games. The catalyst in the rally? LeAndro Barbosa, who scored 11 of his 14 points in the fourth. Barbosa’s energy at both ends of the floor sparked a dramatic turnaround in which...
