Editor's note: Please welcome John Diaz formerly of Air Alamo to the Project Spurs' team. Here is his debut post and what a way to start off here at Project Spurs with a post on Dennis Rodman.
Having a Hall of Fame basketball player train your athletes for the Olympics seems like a great idea. But when that Hall of Famer is former San Antonio Spurs blonde bombshell, Dennis Rodman, you have to start questioning life itself.
According to a report from the Chicago Sun-Times, North Korean leader, Kim Jong Un, has asked "The Worm" to train his athletes for the 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro.
“Why North Korea? It’ll open doors,” Rodman said.
Touting his friendship with Kim and taunting President Barack Obama for not talking to him, Rodman said he will go back to North Korea for a week in December to help select local players for the game. He hopes to have stars such as former Chicago teammate Scottie Pippen and Karl Malone.

San Antonio Spurs fans have watched closely as Cory Joseph led the Canadian National Team through the first round of the FIBA Americas Championship before Canada hit a few bumps in the road in the second round that eventually led to them losing out on a bid to the World Cup in Spain next summer.
Joseph looked impressive and appeared to continually progress after a nice Finals...
Former Spurs guard Stephen Jackson allegedly choke former Rockets guard Steve Francis at a club.
In this video courtesy of BlackSportsOnline, Stephen Jackson moonlights as a rapper, apparently didn’t like something Steve Francis did behind him, and can be seen on video trying to choke him out.
Francis is hilarious with that damn, what did I do look on his face.
San Antonio Spurs' Danny Green has been a very busy man this summer. Seemingly to always be in constant motion, Green has stayed active to say the least. He’s gone all the way from China, to New York, to touring South Texas. And those are only just a few of the spots he was able to hit this summer.
In an interview with Maxim, Green had this to say about his travels...
Here is a lesson for everyone reading this - never interrupt former Spurs forward Stephen Jackson when he is rapping. Just ask former NBA guard Steve Francis what happens when you do.
In the video below, Jackson (aka "Stak 5") was rapping at a nightclub when Francis makes a cameo right behind Jackson. That's when the fun begins.
It seems Francis has words with another...
Ping pong diplomacy is a nice footnote in U.S. international relations. It was an example of sports helping thaw relationships and open the door to trade and bring around detente and a cooling (or warming?) of the Cold War. The idea of having exhibition matches between Americans and Chinese was a good one. A simple way to bring two people together.
So kudos to Dennis Rodman for...
Dennis Rodman is going back to North Korea, and bringing a team of former NBA players with him.
Days after returning from his second trip to visit Kim Jong Un -- in which he said he became the first foreigner to hold the leader's newborn daughter -- Rodman announced plans Monday to stage two exhibition games in North Korea in January.
The first will be Jan. 8 (Kim's birthday...
The San Antonio Spurs 2013-14 season is inching ever so close which means the players will be hitting the gym to get back in shape for training camp and preseason games.
Danny Green is already hitting the gym and from the looks of the videos below, it seems he is eager to get back on the court and putting in the sweat to the point he yells, "It hurts!"
A common dilemma facing contending teams is when to use resources to keep the team in contention versus knowing when to sell off pieces to help you rebuild for the next championship window.
The Chicago Bulls have felt that it is always better to trade an aging superstar or a key role player a season or two early as opposed to having them retire a Bull, Scottie Pippen’s time...
According to RidiculousUpside, the San Antonio Spurs will be working out forward James Nunnally. The 6’7” UC Santa Barbara alum played last year in the D-League with the Bakersfield Jam. He averaged 10.3 points and shot 41 percent on 3-point attempts.
The scouting report on Nunnally seems to fit perfectly with the Spurs mold. He’s been compared to Danny Green as...
Fruitcake ex-NBA star Dennis Rodman is apparently going to write a book with North Korea's dictator, Kim Jong Un. Rodman spoke at a presser: “Sports bring people together. That’s what the Marshal of North Korea wants, he hopes sports bring us together, bridge that gap…. But what I’m saying is sports is the number one thing in the world that keeps people together."...
Just as San Antonio Spurs fans begin to cope with the devastating Game 7 loss to the Miami Heat, a new story comes out.
This time, however, it’s not about Ray Allen’s foot being out of bounds, or even Danny Green showing up to the same club as LeBron James and teammates, it has to do with boxing star Floyd “Money” Mayweather.
The pound-for-pound king is being sued...
Coming into Thursday's opening game of the second round between Italy and Slovenia, the Italians had yet to taste defeat at Eurobasket after going 5-0 in the first round.
Thursday however, Italy would meet the losing side after playing a close match to the end against Slovenia, but a second quarter where they were outscored 27-18 would eventually be too much for Italy to...
