Free agent guard Ray Allen plans to visit the Miami Heat and Los Angeles Clippers later this week. Allen, who helped get the Boston Celtics to the Eastern Conference finals this past season, will meet with the NBA champion Heat on Thursday and the Clippers on Friday, according to ESPN The Magazine. Miami can only offer Allen the mini mid-level exception of just over $3 million a year. The Memphis Grizzlies have reportedly made an offer of the full mid-level exception worth about $5 million for two years to Allen. The Clippers can also offer Allen the full mid-level exception. The Celtics, however, can re-sign Allen for up to a two-year, $12 million contract. The Atlanta Hawks, Dallas Mavericks and Minnesota Timberwolves have also reportedly shown interest in Allen, who turns 37 this month. The Heat could use Allen after shooting under 36 percent on threes this past season and might be the best fit. Mike Miller led the team at 45.3 percent but is considering his future pl...

Report: Ray deciding between Clips, Heat. C’s eye Nick Young

Because we’re all waiting on pins and needles for Ray to make a decision.  Here’s the latest speculation. Allen hasn’t ruled out re-signing with the Boston Celtics, who have made him a strong monetary offer, but signs are pointing to Allen choosing between James’ Miami Heat and Paul’s Los Angeles Clippers. Doc Rivers Thinks Ray Allen Will Return to Boston, Says Celtics Will Lock Up Jeff Green

Among the uncertainties surrounding whether the Celtics will re-sign Ray Allen and Jeff Green, at least one thing isn't in question -- the coach's opinion. Doc Rivers said Sunday that he wants the C's to bring back both Allen and Green, who are free agents this offseason. He seemed to think Boston would have a pretty good chance getting both players to stay. "We...

Report: Celtics Express Interest in Jason Terry, Nick Young

Re-signing Ray Allen likely remains the top priority for the Celtics, but they have reportedly begun searching for a replacement just in case he signs elsewhere. The C's are pursuing Jason Terry, and have also shown interest in Nick Young, according to Yahoo! Sports' Adrian Wojnarowski. Terry has been with the Mavericks since 2004 but is currently a free agent. Known for...

Danny Ainge Dismantling Celtics' Big Three of Paul Pierce, Kevin Garnett, Ray Allen Looks Less Likely Every Day

When last season opened, every prediction involving the Celtics included an addendum: "if they can stay healthy." A team dominated by three players 34 years old or older and a fourth, center Jermaine O'Neal, just past his 33rd birthday was bound to run into medical issues eventually. Injuries indeed played a factor in Boston's inability to get past the Miami Heat...

Jason Terry, Come On Down!

So Marc Spears is reporting that the Celtics will be aquiring Jason Terry for the mid-level exception and still plan to sign Ray Allen. How, why or when are all questions left to people with a better knowledge of the NBA salary cap than me. It’s good to know that if Allen doesn’t re-sign that there will be some security in the form of Terry, but Ray can’t be happy about this...
