Cavs' coach Byron Scott could use boost

CLEVELAND -- Four days ago, Byron Scott was on the hot seat. At least, that was the skinny on the Internet and all the sports talk radio stations. The Cavaliers had lost 10 straight and looked about as tough as five cuddly kittens when it came to defense and rebounding. But Sunday, the Cavs came from behind to scoot past visiting Orlando by a 91-85 count. It was their second...

CHRIS GRANTLAND: LOVE REKINDLED

"Now you guys love us again right?" – Tristan Thompson, postgame.   Oh, you said the season’s over?  These games don’t mean anything?  Nobody told  Tristan Thompson, who once again turned into a ******* wrecking ball.  Crashing boards, exploding defenders, demanding respect with energy that bled out onto the court in buckets, winning a second game in...

Magic-Cavaliers Preview

Tristan Thompson won't blame coach Byron Scott for the Cleveland Cavaliers' struggles. He's shown his support off the court, and now he might be doing the same on it. The Cavs will try to avoid a season high-tying sixth straight home loss and hand the Orlando Magic their worst road losing streak in seven years Sunday night. With Cleveland (23-52) coming off its season...

CHRIS GRANTLAND: CAVS WIN

And just like that, in one night, with a 97-91 victory over the Celtics, the nightmare ended. And if your throat burns with the heat of a thousand suns this morning because your night ended screaming the lyrics to “Born to Run” into a karaoke machine in a bar that looks like a prison cafeteria , and if you had one of the best nights of your life, manhandling craft...

Cavs late season woes could have big offseason impact

I’ll be honest. Until Jason Lloyd’s “Scott’s seat may not be safe” article and the debacle that was Wednesday’s game versus Brooklyn, I hadn’t been paying close attention to the day-in, day-out happenings of the Cavaliers. I knew that they were in a bit of a free fall, but that’s not entire surprising given both Dion Waiters and Kyrie Irving were missing time due...

Cavaliers-Pacers Preview

After suffering a pair of blowout defeats, the Indiana Pacers should have a decent chance to bounce back against a team they've dominated in recent years. The Cleveland Cavaliers, though, have been winning since questions arose concerning coach Byron Scott's future. The Pacers will try to beat Cleveland for the 12th time in 13 meetings on Tuesday night, while the visiting...

The Cleveland Cavaliers defeated the Boston Celtics 97 to 91 tonight at the TD Garden. Both Pierce and Garnett didn’t play tonight, so the young fellas needed to step it up big.
