Nikola Vucevic never saw Shaquille ONeal pull the backboard down in the black and white Magic pinstripes. Vucevic never heard bedtime stories about Hall of Fame centers like Moses Malone or George Mikan. Born in Montenegro, a small country on the southeastern coast of Europe, Vucevicdidn'teven know the NBA existed. Still, even as a child, he always had a dream to play professional basketball with the best players in the world. Now, he is the starting center for the Orlando Magic. Ask him how it happened and hell tell you, largely from the relationship he has with his family. FOX Sports Florida sat down with the second -ear center as he shared about his home and his family in this weeks Q&A. FS Florida: You were raised in Belgium where your dad was a professional basketball player. What was it like growing up watching him play? Vucevic: "It was a lot of fun. My dad was my idol growing up. I used to go to almost every one of his practices and all of his games. He was my f...

Magic Wands: Nicholson a man of few words, big game

Andrew Nicholson has been a steady contributor for the Magic in the first 20 games of the season and has made Rob Henningan look pretty smart for taking the four-year forward from St. Bonaventure. As Brian Schmitz of the Orlando Sentinel reveals, Nicholson has always been a bit understated. But he has always talked big on the court -- like that career-high 16-point performance...

Magic sharp from behind the arc in win

ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) -- J.J. Redick had 16 points and Nikola Vucevic added 12 points and 17 rebounds to help the Orlando Magic hold off the Golden State Warriors 99-85 on Friday night. The Magic led by as many as 20 before having their lead trimmed to 10 points late. But they connected on nine 3-pointers to help secure the win. Andrew Nicholson added 15 points and nine rebounds. ...

No quick changes to starting lineup

Jacque Vaughn is notoriously tight-lipped about his starting lineup. When asked whether Maurice Harkless would make his second start a few weeks ago, Vaughn reacted with shock and surprise. Joking that he had not turned his lineup in. The answer was pretty obvious and Harkless has started since. Now that the Magic continue to struggle at the beginning of the first quarters, the...

False starts dig Magic too deep a hole against Hawks

Two stretches of the game have come to define the Magic in recent weeks -- the start of the two halves. No matter how the Magic want to cut it, they are not winning these two parts and are finding themselves in a hole that is becoming increasingly difficult to climb out of. After seeing a three-point deficit with 2:20 to play in the first half grow to 12 thanks to some brilliant...
