The Golden State Warriors signed undrafted free agent Seth Curry (younger brother of current Warrior Stephen Curry) on August 23rd to an non-guaranteed contract. The 6-foot-2 guard out of Duke averaged almost 18 points, three rebounds and two assists while shooting 43.8% behind the college three-point line as a senior for the Blue Devils.
Now the real question is, does this move make the Warriors better or is it just a gimmick?
On the court, the Warriors seem to be set at the point guard position with the older Curry starting and Toney Douglas coming off the bench. Seth is a little undersized to get many minutes at shooting guard, where the Warriors will start Klay Thompson and youngster Kent Bazemore will continue to come off the bench.
Off the court, this move might be genius. The marketing that the Warriors will be able to use to sell this years team with the addition of Seth seems limitless. Not only will ticket sales increase a tad to see how well the two play together (presumably during the preseason), but the Warriors will have to rework Stephen’s jersey so that his name no longer reads just “Curry.” The jersey will likely read “St. Curry” or maybe even “Steph Curry” (see Isiah Thomas jersey pick), which could lead to increased jersey sales for Stephen and will make the idea of owning a Warriors jersey for both Currys enticing.
Jersey sales aren’t the only apparel that will be sold of course. Splash Bros. 2.0 could be a huge selling point and there will no doubt be tons of shirts, towels, signs, posters to go around.
Adding Seth Curry won’t dramatically change the product on the court for this year’s Golden State Warriors, but the signing could bring even more excitement to an already exciting young team and fan base that has craved a playoff team of this caliber for years.

Unless you’re a hardcore basketball fan, you may have never heard of Speights. Now if that's not the perfect opportunity for an endorsement deal, we don't know what is.

When the NBA season starts, the Golden State Warriors plan to treat Andrew Bogut as a fully healthy center who will not be restricted.
“I think the initial thought is he is healthy, and play him as much as you want,” general manager Bob Myers said. “If something obviously were to develop, something unforeseen, you have to react to it. At this point, you treat him like he...
When it was over on July 5 Warriors general manager Bob Myers was finally able to exhale a long satisfying breath. The previous five days had been a whirlwind with Golden State one of five teams included in the very public chase of the league’s top free agent—center Dwight Howard—all while pulling strings behind the scenes in hopes of landing Denver wing Andre Iguodala a better...
