Let me be honest: This game was billed as a potential playoff preview but Indiana is a team I’d rather avoid. The Pacers are a very good team, probably the only real challenger to the Miami Heat in the Eastern Conference. A Celtics-Pacers series sounds like a more graceful version of last year’s grindy Celtics-76ers tilt, except this time the odds wouldn’t be in the Celtics favor. I’d rather face (what I see as) a beatable Knicks team or match up with the Miami Heat and give them everything we’ve got. That said, the Celtics showed tonight why no one in the East wants to run into the C’s in the playoffs.“This team has shown tremendous heart, tremendous resiliency,” Paul Pierce said after the game. “Gutsy win. One of the best wins of year. Hopefully we can continue this momentum into the playoffs.”Gutsy barely begins to describe it. Running on fumes on the second night of a back-to-back, the Celtics outscored the Pacers 25-13 in the 4th quarter including an 11-0 run to end the game. T...

Paul Pierce sneaks into 76ers huddle

This is one of the better huddle-bombs you’re going to see.  Pierce doesn’t even try to sneak in…. he just walks right up brazenly, right past Spencer Hawes, who looks directly at him, and drapes his arm around two Sixers to listen in on the last few seconds. It’s so great, none of the Sixers even get pissed.  It’s like the end of an old Mentos commercial when everyone...

Why Jeff Green has been inefficient in the post (and how to fix it)

Has Boston been using Jeff Green correctly in the post? One of the most encouraging developments we’ve seen as Boston continues to reel off impressive victories against playoff teams has been the offensive progression of Jeff Green. The Celtics have clearly told Green to look for his own shot as often as possible, and he has obliged, scoring 1.14 points per possession in spot-up...

Pierce now battling bone bruise on his left knee

According to Forsberg of the worldwide leader local branch, Paul Pierce is now battling a bone bruise on his left knee. He suffered the injury in Philly, but it appeared to affect his play last night in Indiana shooting just 4 of 15 for just 13 points. He did play 34 minutes which is a good sign, but was seen with an ice pack on his knee in postgame interviews. I wouldn’t expect...

The Boston Celtics are up to their same old tricks

The looks on the Pacers faces after Jeff Green’s last second game winning layup are priceless (click to enlarge). The Celtics just beat the Indiana Pacers (the #2 team in the East) in the second night of back to back games road games; something they’ve shockingly done twice in a row against very good opponents (Utah 9 days ago, in the “best win of the year” until now), after...

Doc Rivers shows his genius as Celtics score last 11 in Indianapolis to shock Pacers

Doc Rivers and the Celtics stunned Indiana in epic fashion Wednesday night The Celtics did something they hadn’t done all season Wednesday night, winning road games on back to back nights; and they did it in epic fashion. Impressive for such an old, banged up team? Of course. Unexpected? Maybe  so, especially since the Celtics had one win this season after being down by more than...

Photo Gallery: Celtics-Pacers

Celtics pulled off a gutsy win over the Pacers last night in Indiana. Jeff Green’s layup off of a beautifully drawn-up play by the C’s coaching staff sealed the 83-81 win. Celts have today off before playing the Hawks back home tomorrow night. Tip-off is at 8pm, and I’ll be there and cannot wait! Also, I really hope to see some of you at our annual Red’s Army bash on Sunday...

Paul Pierce, Kevin Garnett Relished the Three-Day Break But Understand It’s Back to the Grind (Videos)

Thanks to New England Sports Network’s Celtics writer Ben Watanabe, I chimed in with the Boston Celtics’ duo — Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett — to discuss their progression in the 2013 season as well as a preview of how this season and beyond may pan out. In the NBA, practice is the most important aspect for young guys, but for the older class players, like No. 34 and No....

Recap: Celtics steal one in Indy!

Playing a second night on a back-to-back on the road against one of the best teams in the Eastern Conference? Not a problem. Jeff Green hits a lay-up with .5 seconds left on a beautiful play that was suggested by assistant coach Armond Hill and the Celtics steal one of their biggest wins of the year, 83-81. The game happened exactly as you would’ve expected: a physical, ugly game...

Video: Celtics/Pacers postgame interviews

Jeff Green, Kevin Garnett, and Doc Rivers discuss the Celtics game winning basket (Great play call by Doc!). Videos courtesy of Chris Forsberg.

The Game Winner

To be honest, I didn't think the C's could pull this off.  Trailing for most of the game and down by 14 midway through the 3rd quarter, the Celtics, I thought, were beginning to tire on the second night of  back-to-back road games.  But slowly their resolve surfaced.  First through the Big Ticket, then through the Captain, and then on through the rest of the team - JET...

Video: Jeff Green's game winning play

Finally, Doc Rivers listens to the fans and calls a play at the end of the game that isn't just a Paul Pierce iso. And it was awesome. Best win of the year? Best play of the year? Yes on both accounts. Via Reddit Video by HardwoodParoxysm09

Comments from the Other Side - Sixers 3/5

Good road win for the Celtics.  The Sixers have had it rough with injuries this season.  Poor Sixers fans want to root for a loss for more ping pong balls but they hate the Celtics so much that they are torn about it. Great game by Bradley.   I've highlighted a few favorites.  What are yours?  All the teams are tanking right now. Very hard to make progress in draft order...

Celtics lose lead, game

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) -- Kevin Garnett found Jeff Green all alone under the basket for a layup with 0.5 seconds remaining to finish off a fourth-quarter comeback from 14 points down, and the Boston Celtics beat the Indiana Pacers 83-81 on Wednesday night. Garnett led the Celtics with 18 points and 10 rebounds and dragged Boston back after they trailed most of the final three quarters...

Celtics-76ers Preview

Saddled with a grueling road-heavy schedule, things haven't come easy for the Boston Celtics since the All-Star break. That's also been the case when they've had to travel to Philadelphia. The Celtics will be coming off a much-needed three-day layoff when they attempt to end their road struggles against the Philadelphia 76ers on Tuesday night. Boston (31-27) dropped...

Back Alley Brawl

There is no love lost between the Atlanta Hawks and Boston Celtics.  Ever since the teams clashed through seven hard-fought games in the first round of the 2008 Playoffs, it seems, both teams have had each others' number.  There have been matchups, dustups and confrontations - with notable incidents involving Paul Pierce and Al Horford, Jeff Teague and Ray Allen (to which KG...
