The Atlanta Hawks have looked like a potential tough out in the playoffs while taking impressive wins over Houston, Indiana and Miami this month. There's only one catch: All those wins came in Atlanta. The Hawks, who play at Orlando on Wednesday, must improve their dismal 6-13 road record if they are to be considered as a true postseason contender. The Hawks, who are third in the Eastern Conference, snapped a nine-game losing streak against the Heat on Monday night. That win gave guard DeMarre Carroll, one of several newcomers to the Hawks, more reason to believe the road wins will come. "I think we've just got to take the fight to the teams," Carroll said after Monday night's game. "We can't come out lackadaisical. That's just growing. We're all new as a team." Entering Tuesday's games, Phoenix was the NBA's only other team to have an overall winning record and a losing mark (9-11) on the road. The Hawks don't feel they h...

Atlanta Hawks: Who’s been stepping up with Al Horford out?

To say that the Eastern conference to this point in the season has been uninspiring would be an understatement. Outside of the Miami Heat and Indiana Pacers going one and two, one could make any argument about what order the rest of the East will fall in and it could very well happen. Prior to Al Horford’s season ending pectoral tear on December 26th it seemed that the Atlanta...

Atlanta Hawks: Frontcourt flourishes in win against Miami Heat

The Atlanta Hawks hosted the Dwyane Wade-less Miami Heat Monday night for round three of their four game season series. The Heat had won the previous two, including an overtime thriller in Miami last December. The Hawks lead most of that game, but squandered away the win in the end. Atlanta avenged themselves by beating the Heat 121-114 Monday night. The first half was high scoring...

James Nunnally Signing Second 10-Day Contract With Hawks

James Nunnally will sign his second 10-day contract with the Atlanta Hawks on Wednesday, a league source told RealGM. Hawks use raucous first half as springboard to win over Heat

ATLANTA -- Perhaps the Atlanta Hawks should schedule more outings at the twilight hour of 5:30 p.m. Or maybe don the cherry-red "away" uniforms for more home games. Or plan an in-season excursion to London every other week. All three ancillary factors were at play on Monday, with the Hawks sprinting to a 121-114 victory over the world champion Miami Heat -- as part of Atlanta...

Hawks hang on to beat Magic 112-109

Road victories don't come easily for the Atlanta Hawks. Not even against one of the NBA's worst teams. Paul Millsap had 24 points and Jeff Teague added 23 to help the Hawks earn just...

The Magic almost did it to the Hawks again. Atlanta couldn’t hold a 19-point lead but rallied with under a minute left to defeat Orlando 112-109 Wednesday night at the Amway Center. Pero Antic hit four straight free throws, the final two coming with 11.1 seconds remaining, to cap the wild back-and forth game. Antic was fouled on the rebound of a Glen Davis miss for the final...
