The Atlanta Hawks are still not done yet.

They still have a little work to do to secure home-court advantage for the first round of the playoffs. They need to do to the Dallas Mavericks Thursday night what they did to the Los Angeles Clippers on Tuesday night, and that's win at home so they can take care of home.

The 109-102 win over the visiting Clippers moved the Hawks one step closer to their ultimate goal of hosting the Boston Celtics in the first round, as opposed to going on the road to start the series the same way they did in 2008. The Hawks lost that series in seven games.

So what if it took some late-game heroics from Joe Johnson to seal the deal Tuesday? The Hawks needed the win and whatever else his off-balance 30-footer with 37 seconds to play made possible. And no one will care how they got there, so long as they reach their final goal.

"It's big. But it's not something we're going to break our necks over," Josh Smith said, trying to temper internal expectations if things go awry against the Mavericks. "We really just want to go into the postseason as healthy as possible, just try to go out there and make sure that everybody that plays major minutes is healthy. We'll see how it goes. Hopefully we can get this next win to solidify it."

Smith can play coy all he wants. No one is fooled.

The Hawks are just as desperate for home-court advantage as all the rest of the teams in the league still jostling for that and whatever playoff positioning they can, the Clippers included.

"We're playing this thing down to the very end," Johnson said. "We're going to go into that final game of the season, the final quarter, playing to win. And that's really all you can ask for as a player and true competitor."
