The Miami Heat are sure going international this summer. Dwyane Wade has been to China and LeBron James soon also will visit the worlds most populated country. And Chris Bosh will be heading to the second-most populated nation. The NBA announced Monday the Heat center will visit Mumbai, India, July 16-19 to conduct a variety of events to help grow the game. I am excited for the chance to visit India and help build interest in the game I love, Bosh said in a statement. The NBA is a global game and I hear that basketball is becoming pretty popular over there, so I am looking forward to teaching kids that may end up in our league one day. No player from India ever has made the NBA, but the popularity of basketball has been growing steadily in recent years. Current and former NBA and WNBA players have been traveling to the country since 2006 under NBA-sponsored trips. "Chris is a dynamic player and personality and will be a huge hit with our fans, Heidi Ueberroth, president of NBA International, said in a statement. The popularity of basketball is growing in India, and we're thrilled that Chris will take part in youth development and community activities as part of his visit to Mumbai. Bosh last month helped the Heat to their second straight NBA title, and the Larry OBrien Trophy will accompany him on his visit. Boshs visit to India will include touring famous sites, holding a press conference, giving a clinic and taking part in events with sponsors.
