Miami Heat free-agent signee Shane Battier is a game-time decision for the team’s season opener versus the Dallas Mavericks on Christmas Day. Battier is nursing a strained muscle in his left thigh and was limited in practice this week. Heat coach Erik Spoelstra told reporters he will look at how Battier performs in warm-ups Sunday before making a decision on his status. Battier, a 10-year veteran, signed with Miami when free agency started two weeks ago. Miami center Eddy Curry is not expected to play Sunday due to hip flexor suffered in the second practice of the season.
