It's that time of the year again...well, a couple of months late really but who's counting? Regardless, a full slate of HEAT events are scheduled throughout the community to celebrate the start of the new NBA season that's approaching rapidly.

Presented by Pepsi, HEAT Week will take place from December 17 through December 23, and the HEAT will host a different event each day to generate enthusiasm throughout South Florida during the days leading up to the Home Opener versus Eastern Conference rival, the Boston Celtics on December 27. During HEAT Week, the festivities will touch the community in a variety of exciting ways including various community events and unique opportunities to engage in the HEAT experience and feel it live. 

In addition to HEAT week, fans are invited to stop by the Miami Hoops Gear store located at Dolphin Mall (11401 N.W. 12th Street Miami, FL 33172) for a chance to meet HEAT Legend, Tim Hardaway on December 17th from 11:30 AM to 1:00 PM. Customers are encouraged to take advantage of the ongoing "Buy 3 Get 30" HEAT Holiday Deal. Buy three regularly priced items and get 30% off the entire purchase. This offer is available exclusively at the Dolphin Mall location and will be available through Christmas Day, December 25th.

December 17

HEAT Courtside Cinema Presented by Doctors Hospital Center for Orthopedics and Sports Medicine (6:00 p.m.)
The team launches HEAT Week with the debut of its two-hour docu-drama, Into the Fire at AmericanAirlines Arena. HEAT Owner Micky Arison as well as HEAT players Chris Bosh, Joel Anthony and Mario Chalmers will provide commentary after the screening. Capacity for this event has been reached and tickets are no longer available. 

December 18

Orlando Magic vs. Miami HEAT (6:00 p.m.)
Intra-state rivals, the Orlando Magic take on the HEAT at 6:00 p.m. for the first of two pre-season match ups. Tickets are still available, start as low as $10 and can be purchased online at HEAT.com.

December 19              

Additional $10 Individual Tickets Released (
10:00 a.m.)
Due to increased demand, the HEAT will make hundreds of additional $10 individual game tickets to select games available to the general public. The additional $10 seats will be released beginning at10:00 a.m. on December 19. Tickets can be purchased online at HEAT.com.

HEAT After Dark (7:00 p.m. – Midnight)
HEAT fans ages 18 and older are invited to come down to the AmericanAirlines Arena on December 19 to engage in the thrill of playing in the coolest pickup basketball game ever on the HEAT hardwood. Hosted by in-arena host Dale, fans will enjoy an evening of hoops, music and special lighting along with visits from the HEAT Dancers, Burnie and Banana Man. The event is free and open to the public and runs from 7:00 p.m. to midnight. All participants will receive a free t-shirt and must pre-register online at HEAT.com. In addition, Pepsi and Gatorade products will be available to all HEAT After Dark participants.

December 20

HEAT Car Decal Event (6:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. & 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.)
On December 20, HEAT fans will have two opportunities—during the morning and afternoon drives—to stop by the AmericanAirlines Arena and have a FREE Let's Go HEAT! window decal placed on their cars (while supplies last). 790 The Ticket's Jorge Sedano will broadcast live during the AM shift. In addition, Burnie, the HEAT Dancers and the Xtreme Team will be distributing some free HEAT gear as they help HEAT fans get their rides ready for the 2011-12 season. 

December 21

HEAT/Sun Sports Metromover Takeover (7:00 a.m. – 9:00 a.m.)
The Government Center station will be HEAT Headquarters on December 21 from 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. Morning commuters will get a healthy dose of The HEAT Experience including visits by the Miami HEAT Dancers, Burnie, Banana Man and the Xtreme Team. Free Apple Dippers will be available to hungry patrons courtesy of McDonald's. Commuters are encouraged to hop aboard the specially wrapped HEAT/Sun Sports Metromover to enjoy an usually festive ride.

December 22

Papa John's Pizza Deliveries (6:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m.)
Papa John's may deliver more than just pizza on this day! Order a Papa John's pizza during the hours of 6:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. from select Papa John's locations in Miami-Dade and Broward counties and it might be delivered by a HEAT player, a HEAT Dancer, Burnie or the Xtreme Team! December 23

HEAT Happy Hour Presented by Miller Lite: (5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m.)
HEAT fans can start their weekend early by joining the HEAT Experience for a HEAT Happy Hour presented by Miller Lite and hosted at Miami's oldest watering hole, Tobacco Road. The HEAT Dancers, Burnie, and the Xtreme Team will mingle with HEAT fans while in-arena host Dale hosts the festivities. Miller Lite will offer drink specials and the Miller Lite Girls will be distributing Miller Lite promotional items. Tobacco Road is located at 626 South Miami Avenue in downtown Miami.
