MIAMI Chris Bosh is calling for Chauncey Billups to come to Miami. So is Eddie House. Even incumbent starting point guard Mario Chalmers wouldn't mind it. Billups, a six-time NBA All-Star at the point, was an amnesty victim last week by New York. If not picked up by another team, Billups will clear waivers at 6 p.m. EST Monday. Billups, 35, wants to be a free agent and to join a contender. If that's the case, he's expected to consider the Heat. "Yes, I would like to see Chauncey," Bosh said Monday. "Any player with that type of talent and leadership, his capability on the court. He's Mr. Big Shot, and he has that name for a reason. I remember watching him with the Pistons way back when they won it all (in 2004 and Billups was Finals MVP). He's just a tough player and I think he fits here." Chalmers is scheduled to start for the Heat at the point. But even he wouldn't mind Billups coming aboard. "It doesn't faze me," Chalmers said. "I think Chauncey Billups would be a good addition to our team. ... Whatever's best for our team. " Chalmers has the security of having last week signed a three-year, 12 million contract as a restricted free agent to remain with the Heat. "I've been working hard for that starting position and I feel like I have it," Chalmers said. Even if Billups were to join the Heat? "Yeah," Chalmers said. Chalmers did later add, though, that the starting position is "not up to me. It's whatever the team decides. But we'll see." Heat guard Eddie House also is calling for Billups to come to Miami if he clears waivers. "You're talking about a perennial All-Star," House said. "A guy like that is definitely going to help your team. It's not a knock on Mario at all, but Chauncey has been an All-Star for a number of years, has played in plenty of conference championships, played in the Finals, was a Finals MVP. So that's the caliber of player you're getting. And I also Mario will be able to learn a lot from him. So it's an all-around positive thing If it happens, that would be a great thing."
