Denver Nuggets forward Wilson Chandler will undergo season-ending surgery to repair a labral tear in his right hip.
Chandler felt his hip tighten up Monday in his first game back after he had sat out the previous eight contests with groin and hip injuries.
The 24-year-old Chandler signed a five-year deal last month after returning from playing in the Chinese Basketball Assocation.
Acquired from the New York Knicks in the blockbuster deal for Carmelo Anthony in 2011, Chandler averaged 9.4 points and 5.1 rebounds in eight games this season.
He averaged 12.5 points and 5.0 rebounds in 21 games with Denver last season.
