Before I start, I need to apologize for the long absence. Since I'm currently writing this, it's obvious I'm not dead. I didn't lose interest or my faith in the Celtics or writing. I guess the easiest way to describe it is to say that life got in the way. Just because I wasn't writing about the Celtics didn't mean I wasn't watching every game religiously (some games I watched more than once) and popping aspirins like they were Pez in order to save myself from the heart attacks that this team would give me every other night. I paid attention to every detail, from the harder-than-it-needed-to-be series against the Sixers to Rajon Rondo's unbelievable performance in Game 2 against Miami to the gut-check victory in Game 5 and the unbelievable Garden crowd in Game 6 that stood behind this team when they were down by 20 points in the fourth quarter and spent four minutes on their feet, showing their support for a group of guys that you couldn't h...

Report: Rondo, Ray Allen had 'friction'

The Big Three era in Boston is likely over, and tension between Ray Allen and Rajon Rondo may be one of the main reasons for this.

WATCH YOUR BACK

Rondo throw ball off Wade's back for bucket

Jason Whitney Rajon Rondo is a pleasure to watch. He is sneaky smart, and that is why you can NEVER turn your back on him. Just ask Dwyane Wade. I feel like we’ve seen this play enough times to know we don’t turn our back on the inbounder underneath the basket. A heads up play by Rondo. Check it out: Technorati Tags: Rajon Rondo, Rajon Rondo trick shot, Rajon Rondo...

Mannix: Rondo and Ray didn’t get along

During an appearance this morning on WEEI, Sports Illustrated’s Chris Mannix hinted at a riff between Rajon Rondo and Ray Allen: “There is going to be a ton of interest in Ray Allen in the offseason,” Mannix said. “He’s going to be able to pick and choose where he wants to play.” Allen conceivably could return to Boston, but Mannix said that decision might be affected...

Anybody see LeBron try to kick Rondo tonight?

We’ll have an at-length recap of Game 7 and what it means for the future of the Celtics tomorrow, but I just wanted to point out this clip tonight because many of you might have missed it and it wasn’t really talked about much. In fact, I didn’t really catch it myself but a friend I was watching with did and showed me the video. You probably remember that insane double alley...

Rajon Rondo Sucks At Parking

Da’Shaun Butler was out last night with Rajon Rondo, presumably telling him how awesome he is, while they watched the team that drafted Butler blow a double digit lead to the Oklahoma City Thunder in Game 1 of the NBA Finals. But the Miami Heat were hardly the biggest problem of Butler’s and Rondo’s night. As you can see in the image above, someone’s Cadillac Escalade got...

Garnett, Rondo didn't shake hands with Heat after Game 7 (Video)

Boston Celtics stars Kevin Garnett and Rajon Rondo walked off the court after losing Game 7 of the NBA Eastern Conference Finals without shaking hands with the Miami Heat. Garnett and Rondo had been subbed out of the game and were seen walking to the locker room before the final seconds had ticked off the clock. Guys, we understand that it hurts to lose, but it's...

Rajon Rondo Throws Ball Off Dwyane Wade’s Back

If there was one highlight for Boston Celtics fans last night in Game 7 it was probably in the opening minutes when Rajon Rondo threw an inbound pass of the back of an unsuspecting Dwayne Wade and was able to score a quick layup. I still never understand why the defender of the ball will turn their back to the inbounder.  In the history of basketball has anyone EVER stolen an inbound...

Heat must corral Westbrook after surviving Rondo,

The Miami Heat know there's another All-Star point guard standing between them and the championship after surviving a steady threat of Rajon Rondo triple-doubles to reach the NBA finals. Russell Westbrook poses a different kind of triple threat with his blazing speed, defensive intensity and often-deadly shooting. He brings the Oklahoma City Thunder into the finals playing some...

Report: Ray Allen, Rajon Rondo Had 'Friction' This Season

Ray Allen hits the open market this summer, and if he doesn't return to Boston, it could be because of some tension with a teammate. Allen had "friction" with Rajon Rondo this year, according to Sports Illustrated's Chris Mannix, which could impact the veteran's decision in free agency. "I think there's no question that the relationship was strained...

Kevin Garnett, Rajon Rondo Skip Handshakes, Head to Locker Room After Game 7 Loss (Video)

Three years ago, LeBron James was raked through the coals after he walked off the court without shaking hands following a season-ending Game 6 loss to the Orlando Magic in the Eastern Conference Finals. He infamously declared afterward that he didn't like shaking people's hands after a loss because he was "a winner." Kevin Garnett and Rajon Rondo had the good sense...

To the team I never wanted to love, but did

I’ve tried to write this piece, probably, 20 times by now.  I don’t know how to start it.  I don’t know how to properly capture what this team is or was.  What I do know is… when it was over, I loved these guys.  And I never really intended to. Here’s the season in a nutshell: It was dead. Then it wasn’t. Jeff Green was fine.  Then he wasn’t. Kevin Garnett was...

Your Morning Dump… Where Doc is “a players’ coach who will kick your ass.”

Every morning, we compile the links of the day and dump them here… highlighting the big storyline. Because there’s nothing quite as satisfying as a good morning dump. In the Atlanta series, when Bass failed to close out on a Josh Smith 3-pointer late in the third quarter, Rivers yanked him from the game. Bass thought he was done for the night, but two minutes later, Rivers...

Thoughts on the Celtics’ Future

It sucks that the Celtics lost another big series when up 3-2, and it sucks that they did so in the same way they did last time (games 6 and 7 of the 2010 Finals), by petering out in the 4th quarter. But I don’t begrudge the management’s decision to see what they could get out of this same core, especially if good trade proposals weren’t coming in at the deadline. Had a few...
