After the success of last season, the worst thing the NBA could do was miss time because of a lockout. I can speak for all Celtics fans when I say we are ready to watch the team on this latest title chase even though the season is almost two months late. But we need the Celtics to show us they really do appreciate the fans like they say they do. I’m talking about some creative promotions or email marketing campaigns that would make buying tickets too good to pass up.
I happen to have a few ideas to pass along to Danny Ainge that just might convince me to return to the Garden.
Ridin’ with Ray
The ride to the TD Garden to watch Celtics home games would be much smoother if I were able to ride with one of the smoothest players on and off the court, Ray Allen. The Celtics will need to go all out to get me back in their good graces after this lockout. I would buy season tickets if they guarantee me a ride to the arena with “Jesus Shuttlesworth.”

Danny Ainge said Thursday during a press conference that the Boston Celtics will not take advantage of the league’s amnesty clause.“”We are not amnestying anybody,” Ainge said, inventing a new word in the process. An amnesty clause was included in the new collective bargaining agreement, designed to give teams a mulligan (of sorts) on a bad contract. The Celtics, whose money...
Every morning, we compile the links of the day and dump them here... highlighting the big storyline. Because there's nothing quite as satisfying as a good morning dump.

Hayes is a bit undersized but could be a decent Big Baby replacement. Last year he averaged 8.6 PPG and 8.7 rebounds.
Shaquille O'Neal - the man with an opinion on everything - offered his two cents on the Chris Paul-for-Rajon Rondo trade rumors during a morning appearance on 98.5:
“Everyone is tradeable, you could probably get a lot for Rajon Rondo but he is the heart and soul of the team,” retired star Shaquille O’Neal told 98.5 The Sports Hub’s Toucher and Rich. “I don’t think...
I am not South Beach. I am a Celtic.
Fantastic video! This was posted on Youtube by the Boston Celtics PR group. Kudos for Redsarmy with the find. This makes me want to run through walls for basketball, maybe I will bust through the wall at Game On tonight for The Basketball Jones Tour. I need to find this song and put it on my ipod immediately.
Shane Battier, Carl Landry, Chuck Hayes — no report yet on whether Danny Ainge has called to coax Yao Ming, Dikembe Mutombo and Steve Francis out of retirement to officially revive the 2007-08 Houston Rockets.

The Boston Celtics are trying (rather aggressively, if you believe the rumors) to acquire Chris Paul. But I believe there must be something bigger at play, something bigger even than Chris Paul, even if that “something bigger” seems far-fetched and improbable and very much Dwight Howard. On the surface, trading Rajon Rondo for Chris Paul does not make sense. I certainly believe...
Well, okay, sort of. Insert a few more game clips and you’ve probably got CSKA Moscow’s approximation of what Phil Jackson’s game films used to look like. Via CSKA Basketball tweet, see the trailer for the cinematic epic of 2011 below the break.

Danny Ainge wants the hoops world to know (or at least believe) that despite his point guard’s name appearing in all kinds of trade rumors lately, Rajon Rondo isn’t being shopped by the Celtics. From the Boston Globe: “Ainge said that the team’s greatest need is size, but said that he’s also got a point guard position (a backup) and wing positions to fill. He said the...
The Celtics released their incredibly grueling two-game preseason schedule today. Boston will start off the preseason on December 18 by heading up north to take on the Toronto Raptors before ending the exhibition season on December 21 at home against the, um, Toronto Raptors. (CSNNE.com)

One of the marquee names on next year's free-agent list is reportedly unwilling to sign an extension if he's traded to the Boston Celtics.ESPN is reporting that Chris Paul will not agree to an extension with the Celtics, who are interested in acquiring the All-Star point guard from the New Orleans Hornets. The Celtics are reportedly set to make point guard Rajon Rondo available...
Boston Celtics head coach Doc Rivers and former Sox manager Terry Francona were tight. They still talk. But Tito's gone and Bobby Valentine is here now.
Doc was asked at a news conference today about his relationship. And he said

Earlier today, an NBA trade rumor had Chris Paul getting traded to the Boston Celtics. The deal would have sent Rajon Rondo to the New Orleans Hornets. However, according to sources close to Chris Paul, the Celtics can quit their daydreaming because Paul won’t sign an extension with Boston.
Without an extension, the Celtics wouldn’t do the deal. Why would Paul shun the Celtics...
With the NBA back in business, trade rumors are flowing. One of the most interesting trade rumors is between the Boston Celtics and the New Orleans Hornets. The trade rumor has Rajon Rondo being traded in a package for Chris Paul.
Chris Paul is obviously a much better player than Rajon Rondo, so why is this trade even a possibility? It’s simple: Chris Paul is a free agent this...
