Brooklyn's new home team is understandably amped about its debut on Thursday, when the Nets and Knicks are due to tip off at the Barclays Center. That debut could be complicated, though, if fans do not have a way to get there.
Hurricane Sandy's aftermath left nearly all travel avenues in New York City devastated, with all public transportation and almost every bridge and tunnel out of commission well into Tuesday evening. The Brooklyn, Manhattan, Queensboro, Manhattan and Williamsburg Bridges, as well as the Brooklyn-Battery Tunnel -- in other words, virtually ever travel route to and from Manhattan and the boroughs of Brooklyn and Queens -- were closed indefinitely, according to the New York Daily News. Travel from the outer areas in Long Island, Connecticut and other parts of New York state did not appear to be in much better shape.
