Found May 08, 2013 on Minus Twenty-Two:
As thrilling as Game 1 between the Spurs and Warriors was Monday night, it came with a price. As the Spurs began their historic comeback late in the fourth quarter and the game progressed into multiple overtimes, those of us watching the TNT broadcast at home had the tremendous misfortune of being introduced to a distracting shrieking Spurs fan who would not shut up. A sampling: It went was like that for at least 45 minutes. Was somebody being stabbed? Tortured? Giving birth? All were valid possibilities until none turned out to be reported by the news. By the next morning however, the attention shifted to figuring out who this crazy lady—or shrill guy—was. And thanks to yeoman’s work by KENS-TV’s Dillon Collier, we apparently we have our suspect. Clearly shameless 23-year-old dental assistant Val Garcia has stepped forward claiming to be the person who drove America to shoving sharpened pencils into our ears: Woman saying she’s Screaming Spurs Lady is a 23-yr-old dental ...

Gregg Popovich Wants To Cook Manu Ginobili Breakfast After Game-Winner

Gregg Popovich had one of the best quotes of the season following the Spurs Game 1 2OT victory over the Warriors on Monday night.  After rallying form 16 down to force overtime, Manu Ginobili, who struggled throughout the game (5-for-20), came up  with the game-winning three to seal the win with 1.2 seconds left – here’s what Pop had to say about it. According to USA Today...

Manu Ginobili drains game winner in Game 1

How? How do you let Manu Ginobili get that wide open? How? The Golden State Warriors will be asking themselves that for the next day as they try to rebound in Game 2 after losing a heartbreaker to the San Antonio Spurs 129-127 in double overtime on Monday night. Sure, it took more than 57 minutes for Ginobili to hit his first 3-pointer of the night and he had missed his previous...

This woman’s shrieks were so persistent and so annoying, she stole the focus of the game away from the players on the floor. See, the...

If you have ever witnessed San Antonio Spurs head coach Gregg Popovich get interviewed mid-game you know that sometimes it can be a struggle. Popovich traditionally doesn’t provide much insight and has little to say. So that’s why many found it funny when Popovich found himself getting interviewed last night by TNT’s David Aldridge. Steph Curry is better than all of us

It was all Golden State Warriors last night in Game 2 of their Western Conference Semifinals match-up with the San Antonio Spurs. Klay Thompson led the way with an offensive explosion alongside shooting assasin Steph Curry. Prior to the game, the Spurs said they weren’t going to change their approach to guarding Curry, which didn’t seem like a good idea. Would it even matter...

Stephen Curry wonders if Gregg Popovich was sauced after Michael Jordan comparison

A lot of observers have called Stephen Curry the MVP of the playoffs thus far. Gregg Popovich has taken it a step further. The Spurs coach evoked Michael Jordan’s name when attempting describe some of the things Curry has been doing on the basketball court, recalling the 35 points he torched the Spurs for in the final week of the regular season. From 48 Minutes of Hell: “I was...

Warriors Too Naïve, Too Good of Shooters To Fall to Spurs Again

San Antonio Spurs head coach Gregg Popovich said after the game that it was “polite” of the Golden State Warriors to have Klay Thompson and Stephen Curry switch off games in which they were on fire from the field. Wednesday night was Thompson’s turn. The Warriors defeated the Spurs in Game 2 of the second round of the Western Conference playoffs, just two nights removed from...

Spurs-Warriors Game One: The Game Of Any Year

I really couldn't imagine that the NBA playoffs were going to get better in the second round. Warriors vs. Nuggets was up-tempo magic between two highly likable, flawed teams. Dubs-Spurs was going to be a simple slapdown of the young'uns; Golden State hadn't won in San Antonio for 29 games. They clearly weren't going to do that against a rested and experienced Spurs...

Golden State Warriors End Losing Streak in San Antonio; Beat Spurs 100-91

The last time the Golden State Warriors beat the San Antonio Spurs was way back in 1997; a streak that spanned 30 games. Wednesday night that streak came to an end. Klay Thompson scored 34--29 of them in the first half--and Stephen Curry chipped in another 22 to lead the Warriors to a 100-91 victory over the Spurs. Once again it looked like the Spurs were going to make a...
