New York Knicks guard Jason Kidd will face off against his former team the Dallas Mavericks Friday night at the Garden for the first time since becoming a member of the Knicks. Kidd said he wont be affected by the comments Mavericks owner Mark Cuban said after he left. “I’m sure I’ll get over it at some point,” Cuban said on a Dallas radio in August, “but as of now, I wouldn't put J-Kidd’s number in the rafters.” Kidd, 39, responded after practice Wednesday:“I don’t play for a jersey [in the rafters], I play for my teammates, Cuban owns the team, so he has every right to his opinion. The one thing he can’t take away is the championship ring that we helped him get.” The Mavericks championship was two seasons ago, now Kidd and former Mavericks forward Tyson Chandler are teammates in New York. “It’s a different team than I played with, especially with Shawn Marion going down and Dirk not being there,” Chandler said of the team’s two injured stars...

Carmelo Anthony, Knicks’ Early-Season Surge Will Not Last, At Least Not for Long
People in many parts of New York City are still digging themselves out of the remnants of Superstorm Sandy, so they may not have noticed that Carmelo Anthony and the Knicks have made the NBA their personal playground in the first week of the season. If they have noticed, then no one should begrudge them an opportunity to experience something other than power outages and mass flooding...
Melo scores 31 for unbeaten Knicks
The basket was shaking and Tyson Chandler was screaming, definitely toward though maybe not at the voices he recognized near the Dallas bench.
His more important words came long before that dunk that helped the New York Knicks put away the Mavericks.
Chandler told his teammates at halftime not to let their perfect record get ruined, and they responded with a 104-94 victory Friday...

Paul Pierce: "Carmelo (Anthony) has given me the most fits" to guard
The NBA posted a player profile video on Paul Pierce today, where "The Truth" talks about a range of topics including his favorite all-time NBA play, what it's like being coached by Doc Rivers, and his favorite moment of his NBA career.
When asked who the toughest player in the league is to guard, Pierce said that it was a toss-up between LeBron James and Carmelo Anthony...
The MSG Network hung up some controversial Kinicks ads
Not sure about you guys, but I would rather pick up a six or seven then watch Jason Kidd pass the ball to Carmelo Anthony and Raymond Felton.
Clever ad. Someone will complain about it soon enough.
This one seems a little insensitive.

Knicks 104, Mavericks 94
NEW YORK -- Carmelo Anthony again led the New York Knicks to another win in their best start in nearly 20 years. At least when he was on the court Friday night. But when the Knicks lost their high-scoring forward to foul trouble in the third quarter, J.R. Smith stepped up, helping the Knicks outscore the Dallas Mavericks until Anthony returned in the fourth quarter of their 104...
Knicks continue their winning ways in record fashion
This game was a lot of fun, unless you are a Sixers fan of course. It had a little bit of everything. You got some Sheed, some good JR and some hilarious Nick Young being an idiot. Overall it was another blowout win for the Knickerbockers, their third in as many games this season. Melo Tony led the team in scoring with an efficient 21 points on 7/16 shooting. Earl Smith had another...
Knicks beat Mavericks to stay unbeaten
NEW YORK (AP) -- Carmelo Anthony scored 31 points and the New York Knicks improved their best start in nearly two decades to 4-0 with a 104-94 victory over the Dallas Mavericks on Friday night.
Reserve JR Smith added 22 points for the Knicks, the only unbeaten team in the NBA. They hadn't been perfect after four games since the 1993-94 team started 7-0 en route to the NBA Finals...
Knicks remain NBA's only unbeaten team
NEW YORK - When it yielded 57 points in the first half, the New York Knicks' defense looked as if it might finally crack after three stellar games. And they were clinging to just a one-point lead when their leader, Carmelo Anthony, took a rest due to foul trouble halfway through the third quarter. No matter. The Knicks continued their surprising start to the season by shutting...
Knicks 3-0 for the first time in 13 years
PHILADELPHIA - The New York Knicks, off to their fastest start in over a decade, shrugged off a slow start Monday against the Philadelphia 76ers. Carmelo Anthony collected 21 points as the Knicks routed the Sixers for the second straight day, 110-88, to improve to 3-0 for the first time since the 1999-2000 season. Knicks Pound 76ers To Earn Best Start In Over a Decade
The Knicks defeated the Heat in their home opening in front of the nation's eyes. After beating the 76ers for their second straight win, (and the first game of a home & home series with Philadelphia), fans may have expected the opposing team to come out with a bit more fire as the 76ers looked for revenge on Monday night.Impressively enough, the Knicks kept the division-rival...
NY Knicks Beat Mavs 104-94, Remain NBAs Only Undefeated Team
In what seems to be becoming a trend, the Knicks again relied on defense and taking care of the ball to remain the NBAs only undefeated team. The Knicks are off to their first 4-0 start since the ’93-’94 season with a 104-94 win over the Dallas Mavericks. Yes, they went to the NBA Finals that year, but let’s not get ahead of ourselves just yet.
Both teams opened up allowing...
