New York Knicks guard Jason Kidd has been given a lot of flack for the headband he wore during Sunday's NBA game at MSG against the Indiana Pacers. However, Kidd was by no means trying to make a fashion statement. Kidd was injured in the first quarter after being hit in the head by the teeth of Pacers guard Lance Stephenson on a head fake while attempting a 3-pointer. Kidd put on the headband to shoot three free throws, then left the game to receive seven stitches. Kidd returned to the game in the second quarter with the headband and a bandage used to cover the wound. Some in social media hope it becomes a trend, as the Twitter handle @JKiddsHeadband was created in its honor. However, it's unlikely that Kidd will be wearing the headband for long if his teammates have anything to say about it. Carmelo Anthony commented "It's not a good look...Today, he had to do what he had to do. But we're not going to allow that." H/T ESPN and NYDailyNews. In this column I will be talking about the most surprising teams to begin the NBA year, and the most disappointing teams...

Will Marcus Camby Eventually Break the Knicks' Rotation?

Earlier today, Knicks' Coach Mike Woodson wouldn't discuss how he plans on re-acclimating Amar'e Stoudemire back into the lineup when he returns from injury next month. Will he be a starter? With New York off to such a strong start, the team needs to be careful not to rock the boat. Whose minutes would Stoudemire potentially take away?Of course, with his return nearly...

The Assist: Jason Kidd should never rock a headband

The Knicks bounced back from their loss at Memphis on Friday to beat up on the Pacers. In the first quarter, Knicks veteran Jason Kidd collided with Indiana guard Lance Stephenson. Stephenson’s tooth hit  Kidd’s head leaving behind a cut that would require seven stitches and a headband to keep blood out of his eyes while [...]

Knicks Getting a Boost From Their Bench In Form of Defense

Often times, NBA teams like to fill their bench out with players who can score in bunches. Such an offensive boost is necessary when sitting down a team's top scorers. And over the years, the NBA's top scorer from a second unit has been continuously recognized as the league's "Sixth Man of the Year."In the early goings of the season, this NBA campaign isn'...

Donnie Walsh Spot On With Melo Assessment

Donnie Walsh may no longer be with the Knicks, but it is clear that no bridges have been burned with his former employer. Walsh spoke with New York reporters about the Knicks prior to their 88-76 victory over the Pacers, his current employer, and touched base on a number of topics regarding his old team.  Walsh spoke highly about the Knicks’ early success, and more specifically...

Knicks are older, wiser, better

After watching injuries decimate his roster and put young and largely unproven players in positions of increased responsibility last season, Knicks head coach Mike Woodson made it a point to not let youth be his team's undoing again this year, his first full season at the helm in New York. So over the summer, Woodson and Knicks GM Glen Grunwald went free-agent shopping with...

Knicks 88, Pacers 76

NEW YORK -- The New York Knicks responded to their first loss of the season by more closely resembling the team that started the season unbeaten after six games. The Knicks used a stifling defense coupled with some poor shooting by the Indiana Pacers, 26 points from top scorer Carmelo Anthony and solid play from several of his teammates to top Indiana 88-76 at Madison Square Garden...

Celtkicks: Inside Sneaker Con New York

I love sneakers, and I’ve been called a sneaker-head, but I learned this past weekend that I’m nowhere near the sneaker-head that has come to define the recent explosion in sneaker collecting. I am to true sneaker-heads what the occasional pot smoker is to Charlie Sheen.  I love my kicks, and I can’t resist impulse purchases when I see something I like.  But I wear my sneakers...

New York ballin’! Nets and Knicks off to good starts

The Knicks and Nets have things going in the right direction. Both are off to great starts with the Knicks being the last unbeaten team in the league until losing to a tough Memphis squad on Friday. The 6-1 start is one of the best in team history and they really seem to be putting things together after the last two disappointing first round playoff exits. The team has seen back...
