If anything has been established about Denver Nuggets big man JaVale McGee throughout his NBA career, it is this: On the court, he is a supremely gifted athlete and off the court, he’s something of an eccentric oddball. Actually, that’s two separate and distinct things, but let us not quibble. Instead, let us marvel at a play from Wednesday’s Nuggets-Bulls tilt, highlighted by the jaw-dropping, high-flying, above-the-rim audacity with which McGee savagely throws down a monster dunk over Chicago Bulls big man Joakim Noah, an eccentric fellow in his own right. It’s patently absurd and as mentioned above, if dunks could in fact suffer from mental illness, this one would be clinically insane. I’m talking One Few Over the Cuckoos Nest-worthy level of craziness. Why? Because McGee’s dunk isn’t so much of a dunk but instead is some kind of schizophrenic throw-in/dunk hybrid.
