Javaris Crittenton, who played three seasons in the NBA, has been indicted on charges of murder and gang activity. The former first-round pick was charged with the murder of Julian Jones, an Atlanta woman, and the attempted murder of another man. Jones was shot and killed in August 2011 while she was out walking with a group. Authorities claim that shooting and a second shooting were gang-related and likely in response to Crittenton being robbed earlier. The 25-year-old’s lawyer, Brian Steel, claims his client is not guilty. Crittenton’s cousin Douglas Gamble is charged along with him. The Los Angeles Lakers made Crittenton the No. 19 pick in the 2007 NBA Draft, but before his rookie season was over he was shipped to the Memphis Grizzlies as part of the deal that brought Pau Gasol to the Lakers.
