Jeremy Lin was as good as any point guard in the NBA for a two-month stretch last season, and he entered this season with big hopes for the Houston Rockets. So far, his numbers are comparable to last year’s statistics, but very few fans would call Lin an All-Star at the moment.
Lin agrees with that assessment.
“Uh, no,” Lin said in response to a question about whether he feels he is an All-Star. The last time the votes were released, Lin had the third-most votes among Western Conference guards. But that was two weeks ago, before Lin started playing much better and the Rockets won five straight games. (They have lost five straight since.) Lin is averaging 12.3 points, 6.3 assists and 2.1 steals per game, who sit in third place in a competitive Southwest Division.
“That’s the [farthest] thing from my mind, to be honest, being on a five-game losing streak,” Lin told NBA.com’s Jeff Caplan. “I don’t even care right now. I’m just trying to get a win.”

The Houston Rockets on Wednesday reassigned rookie forward Terrence Jones to their NBA D-League affiliate, the Rio Grande Valley Vipers. The Rockets had recalled Jones on Monday. Mavs beat Rockets for fourth straight win
DALLAS -- On the eve of the All-Star starters for each conference being announced, the Houston Rockets' backcourt hardly looked All-Star worthy in a 105-100 loss to the Dallas Mavericks Wednesday night at the American Airlines Center. Jeremy Lin missed 1 of 2 free throws in two critical trips to the free-throw line late in the game and then committed a turnover with 15 seconds...
Royce White to appear on ESPN's Outside the Lines on Tuesday
Royce White is a fascinating case of how professional sports handle -- or don't -- mental illness.
The Houston Rockets suspended White for not reporting to the D-League.
White will speak -- outside of his Twitter -- Tuesday, January 22, on ESPN's Outside the Lines. The show airs at 2 p.m. CST. Here's a preview via ESPN.com.

The Starting Lineup: Kobe’s D Helps Lakers Achieve Win Streak
Kobe Bryant’s argument for the All-Defense berth he will inevitably receive can now be made on the basis of one game. As the Lakers held the Bucks to just 35.8% shooting and 15 fourth-quarter points in a 104-88 victory, Bryant took the responsibility of checking Brandon Jennings, the Eastern Conference’s reigning Player of the Week. It’s been no secret that the Lakers have...
Clippers ride sizzling Crawford to win
Jamal Crawford scored a season-high 30 points, including 12 straight to start the fourth quarter, and the Los Angeles Clippers looked just fine without Chris Paul in a 117-109 win over the struggling Houston Rockets on Tuesday night.
The Clippers won their second game in a row despite missing their star point guard, who is day to day with a bruised right kneecap.
Los Angeles used...
Dallas Mavericks extend their wins to 4 in a row
And they call it the streak! Well, the Dallas Mavericks won’t, but we will. Dallas has now won 4 in a row, their longest winning “streak” this season and this is against one of the strongest, highest scoring teams in the NBA.
This was, I think, one of the most exciting games this season. You might ask why, well I’ll tell you. Dallas is finally getting their groove back,...
