Jerry Buss, the owner of the Los Angeles Lakers lost his battle with cancer today. Buss dies at the age of 80. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family and the entire Lakers organization. Buss will be remembered as the man who turned the Lakers into a dynasty and helped to rebuild the NBA along the way. He saw the Lakers claim 10 NBA championships under his watch and he had some of the best charioteers the Lakers ever had while doing so. Buss was receiving visits from Lakers great such a Magic Johnson, Shaq and he had a host of others sending their well wishes his way throughout the all star weekend. Buss will be missed by every fan of the NBA and a host of players that passed through the Lakers organization on their way to greatness. Jerry Hatten Buss was born Jan. 27, 1933, in Salt Lake City, and his parents divorced when he was an infant. He married at 19 and shortly thereafter moved to Southern California, where he would earn a doctorate in chemistry and work briefly in the aerospace industry.
