Josh Smith trade rumors sprung up this past week, with the Phoenix Suns reportedly interested (and then not) in J-Smoove.
ESPN's Marc Stein reported that Atlanta is "gauging the trade value of their players and assessing their
options." But the Hawks won't be moving J-Smoove without receiving "a bona fide star player" in return.
The Hawks won't be adding salary heading into this summer's free-agency session when they're expected to make a play for Dwight Howard (along with the Dallas Mavericks).
Smith may have also dented his value by declaring himself a max player and without giving assurances that he'd re-sign with whatever team trades for him, Stein reported.
Smith is likely to test the free-agency waters this summer.

ATLANTA Nineteen days. Its a span that will decide if Josh Smith plays the remainder of this season in a Hawks uniform or someone else's.
Its Smith's No. 5 that's the dominant jersey on the backs of those in the Philips Arena seats and the face of the College Park, Ga. native along with Lou Williams of Snellville that appears on a billboard in metro Atlanta proclaiming...
Did you just read that headline and think, “I need to get to a Hawks game. They may have a new biggest fan!”? I know when I first saw the video, that’s exactly what I thought. Kind of. The title is a little misleading. There WERE strippers entertaining the crowd before the game, but they … Continue reading »
With Rudy Gay now off the trade market, NBA trade rumors will latch onto a new player. That player appears to be Josh Smith. And it did not take long for something to coalesce in the rumor mill. Alex Kennedy of HoopsWorld reports the Suns have initiated preliminary discussions with the Hawks for Josh Smith. And, he reports, if Phoenix does not get Smith they would plan on pursuing...
After Alex Kennedy of Hoops World reported yesterday that the Phoenix Suns were “pursuing Josh Smith”, 620 KTAR Sports Talk Radio host, John Gambadoro is refuting the report, saying the Suns have absolutely no interest in the Hawks forward.
The stories about the Suns being interested in Josh Smith are ridiculous, there is zero interest there -ZERO!

The Phoenix Suns are trying to land Josh Smith. J-Smoov is so high on the Suns' wish list that the team will either trade for him during the season or attempt a sign-and-trade in the offseason, according to NBA writer Alex Kennedy.
Who would the Suns offer Atlanta? Just about anyone on the roster not named Goran Dragic.
Marcin Gortat? Yep. Jared Dudley? Uh huh. Michael...

Several teams have shown interest in Atlanta Hawks forward Josh Smith, but the franchise hasn't decided whether to move J-Smoove.
Fox Sports' Sam Amico broke down the list, which includes Phoenix, Dallas, Charlotte, Houston, New
Orleans and Sacramento. One of those franchises stands out to Amico: The Kings.
"The Kings, in particular, make sense because

Danny Ferry may have complete control of the NBA trading deadline.
Ferry is in his first season as general manager of the Atlanta Hawks, and perhaps no man in sports possesses more moveable pieces and parts.
And judging by Ferrys mega-deal weeks after taking the job, when he jettisoned Joe Johnson to Brooklyn, you have believe he has a little wheeling and dealing in his blood....
Nickey Van Excel is the son of former NBA player, Nick Van Excel. Nick is currently working in the D-League as an instructor for the Atlanta Hawks.
The grim story goes like this, Nickey states that he and his childhood friend were horse playing with a shotgun and it then went off. The blast killed his friend, Bradley Eyo. Nickey panicked and wrapped up Eyo’s body, put it in a trunk...
ATLANTA Boredom and junk food.
That is what Hawks guard Lou Williams said have filled his days since tearing his ACL two weeks ago to the day.
Very boring, very boring, Williams said. Just rehabbing, icing, rehab, icing, junk food, icing rehab, icing.
He said he had eaten at Zaxbys four times this week and expected to make it a fifth after speaking with reporters around lunch...
