By Aaron Kopperl – Knickswag Contributor According to a tweet from Ian Begley of ESPN New York, new Knick Kenyon Martin desires to continue his career beyond this season and “would love” to re-sign with the Knicks this offseason.  This comes as great news to the Knicks who had worked so hard to sign Martin since the summer of 2012 where they attempted to acquire him in a 3-team trade, according to Frank Isola of the New York Daily News. It is now obvious why Glen Grunwald, Allan Houston and company wanted K-Mart in the blue and orange.  Martin has provided a huge and timely boost to a Knicks team with so many big men currently on the shelf.  K-Mart has done more than supplement for the loss of reigning Defensive Player of the Year Tyson Chandler, with his tenacious brand of defense and ferocious put-back slams.  Martin is probably even more versatile than Chandler both offensively and defensively. All of these factors illustrate why Martin should be inserted into the starting lineup alongside Felton, Shumpert, Melo, and Chandler.  However, Coach Woodson stated that he will relegate Martin to the bench when Chandler returns which means that James White will most likely continue to open up games, unfortunately? As I’m sure you’re all aware, the Knicks have quite a bit of money locked up in their stars, which leaves the team in a tricky spot financially.  The Knicks are currently over the cap which means they will not be able to make any sign-and-trades and will only have the $3 million taxpayers’ exception available to spend on a free agent.  The Knicks should strongly consider using all of the exception, or at least a large portion of it, to re-sign Martin this summer if he continues to play at the level we have seen the past month.  It’s a win-win for both parties; the Knicks would be signing a tough defender and emphatic dunker, while K-Mart would finally receive the money he has been seeking for the past year. Will Kenyon Martin Be Able to Keep Up Intensity for Knicks?

At the beginning of the season, the Knicks reeled a bevy of well known and proven veterans in to fill out their squad.Though New York currently stands as the league's oldest team, the thought-process behind this was that if most of the seasoned vetereans were able to conservatively share minutes with one another, they'd each be able to thrive while not being asked or expected...

Kenyon Martin Says He Would ‘Love’ To Return With Knicks Next Season

Kenyon Martin may of had to wait longer than he wanted to sign with an NBA team this season, but the 12-year-veteran is proving he can still make an impact. In six games without Tyson Chandler (neck injury), Martin has averaged 12 points and 7 rebounds as a starter. And while he’s “focused on the present”, the former No. 1 pick says he would love to return with the Knicks next...

Kenyon Martin 'Would Love' To Stay With Knicks

One game after posting 19 points and 11 rebounds, Kenyon Martin dropped 18 points, seven rebounds and two blocks in Saturday's blowout win.

Kenyon Martin On Celtics Not Signing Him: ‘It’s Their Fault’

Kenyon Martin has proved to be a valuable pickup for the Knicks, averaging 11.7 points and 6.8 rebounds in seven games as a starter since Tyson Chandler went down with a neck injury, so how does he feel about the Celtics passing on him earlier this season? “It’s their fault.” According to Marc Berman, New York Post: Celtics coach Doc Rivers admitted the team inquired when Martin...

Humbled Kenyon Martin Has Filled The Void Of Tyson Chandler

The New York Knicks are currently riding a five-game winning streak, revamping confidence in the team once again this season. It’s been an up and down roller-coaster for these Knicks, and just over a week ago they seemed to be hitting rock bottom with a four-game losing streak. Questions of how Carmelo Anthony would perform after getting his knee drained mixed with the fact Tyson...

Traditional Line-Up for the Knicks a Must with Playoffs Approaching

By Charles R. Trimble III – Knickswag Contributor As I sat in section 221 with my son Saturday night, I just marveled at the recent play of former Knick killer Kenyon Martin who has been a godsend to the injury riddled Knickerbocker squad. As we serenaded him with “Ken-yon Mar-tin” chants I leaned over to my son and said, “I can’t wait to see the tandem of Chandler and...

Celtics Nearly Signed Kenyon Martin

Kenyon Martin has been a key addition to the Knicks roster.

Kenyon Martin on Celtics not signing him: It’s their fault, they lost

The Boston Celtics could use another big body right about now. Kevin Garnett is expected to miss as much as another two weeks with an ankle injury. KG has missed four of the past six games for the Celtics, and the team is currently in the middle of a five-game losing streak. Coincidence? I think not. Boston could have signed Kenyon Martin to bolster their front court earlier this...

New York Knicks – Don’t Diminish Winning Streak

It is easy to brush away the New York Knicks recent four game winning steak because of the competition level. Considering how Utah is bottoming out, all four wins came against teams who won’t be in the playoffs but that shouldn’t diminish the importance of the victories. The Knicks managed to avoid any let downs despite not having Tyson Chandler available in any of the match...

Knicks Sweep Back to Back – Win 4th Straight

By Max Marcilla – Knickswag Contributor Knicks 110 Raptors 84 The Knicks look like they are back in their groove as they win the second game of the back to back with Toronto. Similar to last night’s game, Carmelo Anthony and Kenyon Martin dominated, but what differed last night’s game from tonight is the fact that the Knicks played all the way through and never made the game...

Danny Ainge dropped the ball, should've signed Chris Andersen and Kenyon Martin

The Celtics are banged up. If Kevin Garnett's foot injury ends up lingering for any extended period of time, an already thin front line becomes non-existant. The C's have no depth at either the 4 or 5 spot - and it's showing. D.J. White and Shavlik Randolph are not NBA caliber players, at least not rotation quality, and trying to plug them into the line-up during the...
