NBA Injury News:
Ever since Oklahoma City Thunder guard Russell Westbrook went down with a season-ending knee injury toward the end of the 2012-13 campaign, it's been unclear when he'd retake the court. Questions remain, but Westbrook's teammate Kevin Durant offered his own prognosis of the situation yesterday at a Nike and Foot Looker event in Spain. Durant told reporters -- including Raul Barrigon of Hoops Hype -- that he expects Westbrook to be back with the Thunder in time for the start of the regular season. At a Nike&Foot Locker event in Barcelona (Spain), Kevin Durant said he expects Russell Westbrook to be ready for the start of the season.— Raúl Barrigón (@BarriHoopsHype) September 9, 2013 Considering a standard timeline following Westbrook's knee surgery, the guard was expected to return to action around the start of training camp. However, as witnessed with Chicago Bulls point guard Derrick Rose last season, being cleared medically and actually returning to live-game action is another thing.Oklahoma City can afford to take it slow with Westbrook in effort to prepare him for the playoffs. Rather than rushing him back for the early part of the regular season, the Thunder will attempt to get him rolling in time for the stretch run and postseason. Based on Durant's comments it sounds like Westbrook should fit into that timeframe.Follow @hoopsinjurynews
