Nearing the end of November, Houston Rockets coach Kevin McHale lost his daughter, 23-year-old Sasha, to a long-term battle with lupus. On Friday, with longtime friend Kevin Garnett in town and in the wake of the Newtown tragedy, things figured to get a little emotional. McHale drafted Garnett in 1995 while the now-coach was acting as general manager of the Timberwolves. McHale actually coached Garnett in Minnesota for two seasons before shipping him off to Boston out of necessity. The two have apparently remained close since. After the Rockets disposed of the Celtics 101-89, first coach Doc Rivers looked for McHale, giving him a hug. Then Garnett found McHale, and the two shared an extended embrace, with both apparently very emotional. See a video of the touching moment between the two friends below. Whatever way you look at it, it is a desperate situation.” –Andrea Bargnani on the Toronto Raptors to an Italian magazine Tweet of the Night Submitted without comment. Both my parents are teachers so this really hits home. — Will Middlebrooks (@middlebrooks) December 14, 2012 Video of the Night After this past season at USC, Matt Barkley may need to look for a new sport.
