The Minnesota Timberwolves hopes of competing this season were sabotaged from the onset by injuries to their two best players Ricky Rubio and Kevin Love. They’ve rarely had a fully healthy team on the floor to see where they stand and it seems like they won’t be getting that opportunity according to Love.
In a story via Jerry Zgoda of the Star Tribune, the 2-time All-Star, who has broken his hand twice this season, isn’t certain that a return to the court this season is in the cards for him.
“I’d say that has crossed my mind, but as far as making a decision, I haven’t made that decision yet,” he said.
“The hand is great, my body feels great. It’s going to be a big offseason. Part of coming back [yet this season], you want to give the fans something, but you also want to do something for the team and yourself. You kind of want to see what you have here when you have a full team, and we really haven’t had that yet.”
“It’s a doctor’s job to be cautious, especially when it’s the second time I’ve done it this year,” he said.
Love, obviously is conflicted because he feels like it’s on him to inject some kind of hope into the fans and to a certain degree his teammates. The best decision would probably be to shut it down and come back strong next season because the Wolves have nothing going for them this season besides the looming NBA lottery.

MINNEAPOLIS Both Nikola Pekovic and Andrei Kirilenko will be available for the Timberwolves Sunday night against New Orleans, and Rick Adelman gave every indication that both would start.
"My tendency is to start them," Adelman said. "They're two of our best players. . . . I want to see how they perform, and I think that's the best way to do that is to start...
MINNEAPOLIS Nikola Pekovic and Andrei Kirilenko came up big for the Timberwolves on Sunday night in the final seconds of their win over New Orleans, but both players had had somewhat lackluster nights before the offensive rebound, free throws and block that saved their team the game.
On Monday in Memphis, the rust continued. Both players started in the second game of the team'...
MINNEAPOLIS That was certainly not one for the ages.
That was 47:42 worth of mediocre basketball, all but sliver of a game in which the Timberwolves looked absent on defense and just fine on offense, when it seemed that re-integrating Nikola Pekovic and Andrei Kirilenko into the lineup after nearly three weeks out was going to be a days-long project.

Tweet The Minnesota Timberwolves have had a disappointing year, largely due to their injury problems. Ricky Rubio, Kevin Love, Chase Budinger, Andrei Kirilenko, Nikola Pekovic and Brandon Roy have all missed significant amounts of time this season because of injuries. In case you didn’t know, that’s pretty much the core of their team. Despite how [...]
First it was Ricky Rubio, way back in March 2012, with that torn ACL that brought on the most downward of spirals. Then the Timberwolves signed Brandon Roy, he of the dooming knee problems and a prodigious lack of cartilage. Then Kevin Love broke his shooting hand in October, and Chase Budinger's meniscus fell prey to the Bulls in November. Love's hand healed and then broke...
Derrick Williams scored a career-high 28 points and Ricky Rubio had 16 with six assists as the Minnesota Timberwolves beat the New Orleans Hornets 97-95 on Sunday night.
The Wolves got a lift in the final seconds from two players who hadn't seen appeared in a game in more than two weeks when Nikola Pekovic hit two free throws to pull Minnesota ahead for good, and Andrei Kirilenko...
