Kevin Garnett has been as responsible for this Celtics resurgence as anyone, so this is quite fitting.  Rondo's been getting a lot of attention lately, and rightfully so, for his gaudy assist numbers... but are the Celtics in this position without Kevin Garnett as well?   KG has been named the Eastern Conference Player of the week.  Here's a look at his week.  * April 10 @ Miami: Tallied 24 points, nine rebounds, two assists and two blocks in a 115-107 win over the Heat. * April 11 vs. Atlanta: Posted 22 points, 12 rebounds, two assists and three steals in a 88-86 win over the Hawks. * April 14 @ New Jersey: Tallied 21 points, 12 rebounds and three assists during a 94-82 win over the Nets. Man, that is really one hell of a week.  I hate to keep harping on it, but there was no way back in January to guess that this is what KG would look like now.  Amazing turnaround.  It'll be interesting to see how Doc uses KG over these last five games.  If he can get away w...

Kevin Garnett Rocketing Up List of NBA Defensive Player of the Year Candidates

Scorers get the glory, but a lockdown defender is crucial to any team with championship aspirations. With points at a premium this season, the true defensive specialists have emerged from the fold. It is not easy to muster the energy to shut down the other team's best player three times in four nights -- or even three times in three nights, on occasion. But a chosen few have...

Man in the middle! Garnett turns back hands of time!

Veteran power forward Kevin Garnett has beenabsolutely dominant for the Boston Celtics since moving to center almost a month ago.The Boston Celtics have been steamrolling their opponents for the better part of the last month or so – and maybe it should come as no surprise – seeing as how future Hall of Fame forward Kevin Garnett has raised the level of his play following...

Rondo, KG and life inside the Celtics lockerroom

You MUST read this article by Holly MacKenzie of Ball Don't Lie. MacKenzie provides fantastic insight into Rajon Rondo, Kevin Garnett and the dynamics of Celtics lockerroom, courtesy of Keyon Dooling. Here's what Dooling said about the perception of Rajon Rondo's grumpy personality: "It's funny because there were a lot of people who didn't necessarily...

Your Morning Dump... KG gives all the credit to Rondo

Every morning, we compile the links of the day and dump them here... highlighting the big storyline. Because there's nothing quite as satisfying as a good morning dump. “Just miscommunication really,’’ Rondo said, explaining the sloppy first quarter. “I wasn’t happy with my play, but I knew the team needed me and it was bigger than myself, so I tried to go out there...

Bobcats fall to Celtics, losing streak goes to 16

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) -- Rajon Rondo had 20 points and 16 assists to help the Boston Celtics beat the Charlotte Bobcats 94-82 Sunday night despite playing without three of their star players. Kevin Garnett, Paul Pierce and Ray Allen were given the night off to rest and did not make the trip to Charlotte, N.C. to face the NBA-worst Bobcats. But the Celtics won anyway as Aaron Bradley...

Recap: Celtics toy with Bobcats

Even without Kevin Garnett, Ray Allen and Paul Pierce, the Celtics were too good tonight for the Charlotte Bobcats. The C's won it, 94-82. Avery Bradley (22 points, 9-14 FG, 2-3 3 FG) has my undying faith. When he takes pull-up jumpers on the break, or spots up in the corner for 3, I fully expect him to make the shot. Incredible. Rajon Rondo (20 points, 16 assists, 6 rebounds...

Brandon Bass, Role Players Step Up for Celtics Against Bobcats While Paul Pierce, Kevin Garnett Rest

Pretty soon, Doc Rivers will leave people with no choice but to listen to him. He tried warning everyone that Avery Bradley was a gifted offensive player, and his words came to be true. He has also raved about the positive atmosphere in the locker room this season, predicting the good vibes would win the Celtics a few games they otherwise would lose. One of those games may have come...

Starting 5: Playoff focus, Good Bynum, & Rondo wanted to play 48 minutes

Every morning, we'll give you five things from the night before in the NBA to start your day. 1:  A clearer playoff picture starting to emerge in the East The season ends in 10 days, and only now are we finally starting to see things snap into focus in the NBA playoff picture. Most teams have five or six games left on the docket, so in the East, the top four seeds are almost...

DeShawn Stevenson Breaks Rajon Rondo’s Ankles

DeShawn Stevenson seldom dribbles.  He takes non-three-point shots just about as infrequently (less than one per game).  I’m not sure what got into him on the following play, but he actually elected to both.  Watch as DeShawn put a stellar behind-the-back crossover/step-back move on Rajon Rondo, leaving a nimble set of ankles in need of a fresh tape job… Please disregard...

Enemy Chatter: Rondo carved up Charlotte's defense

I often wonder what opposing teams, their beat reporters and bloggers are saying about the Celtics after playing the Celtics. Here's a dose of 'enemy chatter' from Charlotte. Rondo makes everything so much easier for his teammates; he carved up the Charlotte interior defense to the tune of 16 assists (if his 20 points weren't enough for you). Many of those assists...

Derrick Rose: I’m sick and tired of people taking cheap shots at me

As an explosive point guard who loves to slash toward the rim, Derrick Rose tends to take quite a beating. Hard fouls against guys like Rose, Rajon Rondo, and Chris Paul are a common occurrence. However, Rose believes there are players in the league who have been playing too rough with him, and after Charlie Villanueva left the bridge of his nose bloody with a flagrant foul on Sunday...

Magic look to avenge season losses vs. Celtics

Tune into FOX Sports Florida at 7:30 p.m. to watch the Orlando Magic take on the Boston Celtics. NBA Magic territory. There's a reasonable chance the Orlando Magic and Boston Celtics could find themselves matched up in the first round of the playoffs. Based on the teams' recent history, that's a series Orlando probably wants no part of. Perhaps the Magic's two...
