Sacramento Kings head coach, Paul Westphal has butted heads with 2nd year F/C Demarcus Cousins multiple times since Cousins’ arrival last season. That animosity came to a head on Saturday when Westphal released a statement saying that Cousins had demanded a trade and that Westphal would request that Cousins remain away from the team.
However, despite the players’ demands, both Kings GM Geoff Petrie and owner Joe Maloof told the Sacramento Bee that Cousins isn’t going anywhere. ““We leave that stuff to the basketball people, but we’re not trading him.”
Petire responded to a tweet from Bee reporter Jason Jones and said the team does not plan on trading on trading Cousins and that he plans to meet with him tomorrow.
Cousins was the 5th overall pick in the 2010 draft after leaving the University of Kentucky after one season.
