A threat to cut allowance is usually reserved as an ultimatum given to a middle school kid, or perhaps something Ricky Ricardo might have said to Lucy. However, the Golden State Warriors’ Klay Thompson is proving that you’re never too old to have your parents put a dent in your cash funds. Give Thompson some credit. Unlike the recent tales we’ve heard from the now-broke Vince Young, for instance, Thompson has his future in mind. Since he’s been a professional, he’s allowed his parents to take care of his money so he ends up in good financial shape after his playing days are over. However, Thompson found out that responsibility — and having a former NBA champion for a dad — can have some downside, too. Klay’s father, two-time champion Mychal Thompson, made an appearance on ESPN 710 in Los Angeles on Thursday, and he announced a punishment for his son after the younger Thompson was involved in the brawl between the Pacers and Warriors on Tuesday. “I saw Klay mixed up in the beginning, tied up with George Hill,” Mychal said. “I say to myself, don’t do nothing stupid now, don’t throw a punch, don’t throw the ball at anybody.” But when Klay did get involved with Roy Hibbert, Mychal decided that the NBA’s fine — Kay’s first such indiscretion in the league — wouldn’t be his only monetary penalty. “He will [find out he's been fined by us] when he sees that cash envelope show up a little short this week,” Mychal said. For the record, Klay pays about $3,000 for rent, and his “walking around money” is $300 per week. Photo of the Night This is Daisuke Matsuzaka immediately after giving up a spring training home run to Mitch Moreland. Something seems oddly familiar about this image. Quote of the Night “Ten out of 10 times, I make the same decision again.” –Steve Nash, quite possibly suppressing his real feelings about his move to the Lakers. Tweet of the Night Lost in the the absurdity of Dennis Rodman‘s visit to North Korea has been the horrible human rights abuses the country’s leadership is responsible for. Sure, the Dennis Rodman story offers surreal amusement but he's getting played as a prop by a government that represses its people.— Richard Deitsch (@richarddeitsch) February 28, 2013 Video of the Night The Miami Heat are now in on it, too. Seriously, how creepy is Chris Andersen in the background of this video?
