The New York Knicks had a terrible first quarter and once again they were lacking on the defensive end. The Knicks clearly made no adjustments since their loss to the Charlotte Bobcats and the Wizards took advantage of every opportunity. Washington was getting into the open-court and found good looks on nearly every possession.
The first quarter was all Washington and it headed to the bench up 32-18. The Wizards shot 58% from the field while the Knicks were at a lowly 35%. John Wall and Nick Young were hot in the opening period and tallied up 12 and 10 points, respectively.
However, the Knicks completely turned around in the second quarter and played with much more energy. Carmelo Anthony took over the game in the second period and single-handedly brought the Knicks back into the game.
New York went on a 19-7 run and the once double-digit deficit was cut to one right before half-time. As the Knicks entered the locker-room, they were down only 47-46.
