The New York Knicks have expressed interest in Minnesota Timberwolves point guard Luke Ridnour, according to source. — Alex Kennedy (@AlexKennedyNBA) February 13, 2013 This rumor makes me wonder what the Knicks really want? Why Luke Ridnour? Don’t get me wrong, Luke is a very good shooter and we all know the New York Knicks need shooting and offense of any kind. However, Luke is small (6’2″ 175 pounds) and not very good defensively. He makes 4 million this year and next, so this means the Knicks would have to trade a player or two to make this deal work. Who are you going to trade to add Ridnour to the roster? I am not going to give up solid players when you have other glaring needs, are you?  The Knicks also have three point guards on the roster. Raymond Felton is the starter and much needed. Jason Kidd has not been the same for a while now, but you are not going to slash his minutes down to 5-10 per game to give Luke some minutes. Pablo has been overwhelmed from time to time, but he has been exactly what I thought he would be, a capable 3rd string point guard who can be a back up if needed for long stretches. Does that mean you do not go out and get Luke? I am not sure if he is needed as much as a two guard who can defend as well as shoot.  Even more of a need would be a power forward that can play in the post and be that tough guy the Knicks are looking for. A small point guard who plays mostly the two guard is not what I had in mind. Thoughts?
