You don't often see a player get cut on their finger in an NBA game.  It's not like they are slicing vegetables in the kitchen.  However, Carmelo Anthony suffered such an injury last night in the New York Knicks win. According to Jared Zwerling of ESPN New York, Anthony suffered the injury while diving into the Knicks' bench trying to save the ball from going out of bounds.  He was not able to return to the game, but there was only about two minutes left in the game when he was injured.  The Knicks went on to win 100-98 over the Charlotte Bobcats. The extent of the injury is not yet known, but it should not keep Anthony out for long if at all.  Even if a player has to get stitches, they will often play.  Players will often play through broken fingers even.  More will be known today, but Anthony should be fine.  And that's good news for a Knicks team wishing to ride its current success deeper into the season.New York is 13-4 on the season.  They have the second-best record in the NBA behind the Memphis Grizzlies.  The Grizzlies are 13-3.Anthony has been incredible so far this season.  He would be in the MVP discussion if the season were to end now.  Anthony is averaging 26.6 points per game and 6.9 rebounds per game.  He is leading the Knicks back to prominence, and he is getting the recognition he deserves for it after getting the flak he also deserved in previous seasons.  Should Anthony be sidelined with the finger injury, it would be a big blow to New York.
