If there is a team out there that likes Renaldo Balkman, the Knicks would probably be willing to trade him along with $3 million cash in exchange for nothing (which in NBA nomenculture is often called a conditional second-round draft pick). Balkman is one of ony three players on the current roster with guaranteed money for the 2012-13 season, as he will make $1.675 million in each of the next two seasons. (Also, Toney Douglas will be entering an option year in 2012-13 for which the Knicks could choose to pay him $2.07 million, and whoever the Knicks take with the 17th pick in this June’s draft also will presumably still be under contact to New York in the summer of ’12).
