Any other season and performances like what Kobe Bryant had Wednesday night against the Portland Trail Blazers would be part of an MVP highlight reel. However, with LeBron James the hands-down favorite to win it this year it will have to be just another game. All be it an incredible one (47 points!!!) that kept the Lakers in playoff contention after leading them to a 113-106 win over Portland!

Kobe Bryant Bestows New Nickname on Metta World Peace

I feel like the Lakers, Kobe especially, just toss around new nicknames a little too flippantly. The latest nickname to surface is one which Kobe is giving to Metta World Peace, who is set to possibly make a comeback to the court Tuesday night when the Lakers play New Orleans. The fact that Metta is set to return already, is actually worthy of a new nickname. According to the LA...

Lakers to reduce Kobe Bryant’s minutes

The Los Angeles Lakers have called on Kobe Bryant to help carry the team in their attempt to claim a playoff spot in the Western Conference. However, with the return of Metta World Peace, coach Mike D’Antoni told reporters – including Mike Bresnahan of The Los Angeles Times – that he will attempt to lessen Bryant’s minutes in preparation for the postseason.Metta World...

Lakers 118, Warriors 116

Kobe Bryant scored 34 points while playing much of the second half in obvious pain with an injured left leg, and the Los Angeles Lakers rallied in the final minutes without him to stay in the playoff picture with a 118-116 victory over the Golden State Warriors on Friday night. Immediately after the game, the Lakers announced Bryant probably had a torn tendon. He will have an MRI...

Kobe Bryant: ‘I would have smacked the hell out of Mike Rice’ (Video)

There have been a number of different reactions to the video clips that surfaced last week of former Rutgers men’s basketball coach Mike Rice physically and verbally abusing his players. One of Rice’s former players, Mike Coburn, said that Rice took it too far at times but that the team understood him. Chipper Jones said he thought the players should toughen up and that he has...

Preview: Warriors vs. Lakers

There are 3 games left to be played for the Lakers (42-37), but their work in maintaining their 8th seed status is far from over. L.A. is a full game ahead of Utah, but the Jazz have a much easier schedule facing Minnesota twice and Memphis on the road. They've only beaten the Grizzlies once at home but are undefeated against the Timberwolves in 2 tries. Meanwhile, the...

Video: Kobe says he would have “smacked the hell out of” former Rutgers coach Mike Rice

Tweet When the video of Mike Rice abusing his players surfaced, Lakers star Kobe Bryant tweeted out his thoughts on the incident, obviously showing his distaste for Rice’s actions: That’s not #coaching that’s a power trip #rutgersbasketball . At a minimum it’s horrible coaching #coachdontbully — Kobe Bryant (@kobebryant) April 4, 2013 #coachdontbully In an [...]
