Lakers guard Kobe Bryant does his thing anytime he chooses to.  At the drop of a dime, if Kobe wants to prove something to naysayers, he will. If Kobe hears that he’s shooting too much, he will go out, pass the ball, rebound the ball, and pass up shots just to prove a point. Bryant started the season scorching from the field, shooting 46.3% from the field.  He’s come back to earth a bit and punctuated that with a 1-8 performance in a win a few days ago. Some might suggest Kobe is cold or in a slump, but according to ESPN L.A. and the Black Mamba himself, “he can never be in a slump.” “I’m not in a slump,” Bryant said after practice Wednesday. “I just haven’t shot it (much). I can’t be in a slump. The game before against a good team in Miami, I shot the s— out of the ball. So I’m not worried about it.” “I really haven’t been focusing on 3-pointers the last three or four games,” said Bryant, who had attempted just three 3s in his previous three games before taking four against the Suns. “I haven’t really shot that many consciously. I’m just trying to get into areas where I’m a little more threatening and get away from the long ball a bit.” Bryant who is battling a sore elbow won’t use that as an excuse, saying “I’ve shot through worse.”

Kobe Bryant, Blake Griffin exchange dunks

In Thursday night's NBA matchup between the Los Angeles rivals at the Staples Center, Clippers star Blake Griffin and Lakers star Kobe Bryant exchanged slam dunks in the third quarter. Griffin's dunk came off a perfect lob pass from Clippers guard Chris Paul midway through the third quarter. A minute later, Bryant beat Clippers guard Jamal Crawford one-on-one and threw...

Kobe Bryant is Also an Accomplished Pianist

Who would have thought it eh? Kobe Bryant the pianist. Well, actually it’s not a surprise. Kobe was a well-learned individual before he left for the NBA at age 18ish. While it’s cool. It’s really not going to get him anywhere in life. Thanks to TerezOwens for the video.

D Wade Says Kobe Bryant Is ” The Greatest Player Of Our Era”

During his media availability for All-Star weekend in Houston, Dwyane Wade was asked how this era of basketball will be remembered. And while you might of thought his answer would include teammate and NBA champ, LeBron James – it didn’t. D Wade named Kobe Bryant as the leader of this “good” era of basketball: “When you look back at this era there’s going to be a lot of...

MJ still chooses Kobe over LeBron

Michael Jordan still picks Kobe Bryant over LeBron James. Jordan, according to Ira Winderman of the South Florida Sun Sentinel, said he views the Lakers star guard as the more successful player to date when compared to the Miami Heat All-Star. "If you had to pick between the two, that would be a tough choice," said Jordan, "but five beats one every time I look at...

Video: Kobe Bryant and Blake Griffin exhange dunks

With NBA All-Star weekend coming up, and more importantly the Slam Dunk Contest, a couple former Dunk Champions showed off their skill on Thursday night in the Staples Center. The Lakers’ Kobe Bryant and the Clippers’ Blake Griffin exchanged dunks during the 3rd quarter of the Clippers’ blowout victory. Griffin did what he does best, and that’s slam down an alley-oop pass...

Michael Jordan says Kobe Bryant gets the edge over LeBron James because of rings

Once again when asked the question, LeBron James or Kobe Bryant, Michael has answered in favor of Kobe. Granted, Michael’s judgement has been questionable lately; those wide leg jeans are a violation that’s extremely hard to move past. His assertion that 5 rings beats 1 is not only truthful but intriguing. “If you had to pick between the two, that would be a tough choice...

LeBron James Defends Himself After Michael Jordan Says Kobe Bryant Is NBA’s Best Player

Just one day after Michael Jordan stated that he would pick Kobe Bryant over LeBron James as the NBA’s best player, James is fighting back with arguments of his own. While Jordan’s reasoning for picking the Lakers star over the Heat star can be traced back to number of championships, James doesn’t believe the answer is that simple.  He isn’t sold that the caliber of...

Count it! An-twan!

I’m feeling like Kobe Bryant today, uninspired! Last night Kobe, who is averaging 20.7 FGA per game attempted only 8 shots and aborted 7 of them. That means he missed 7 of 8 in case you’re trying to do the math. Reverse psychology! Not really. Anyway, while Kobe was busy day dreaming about Jason Kidd’s ex-wife, Antawn Jamison stepped up with 19/10/1 and 2 threes in 33 minutes...

Lakers GM denies Dwight-for-Rondo trade rumor

The Los Angeles Lakers have reportedly engaged in preliminary trade discussions with the Boston Celtics in regard of players Dwight Howard and Rajon Rondo, which Lakers general manager Mitch Kupchak denied. Ken Berger first reported

Michael Jordan Says LeBron Would Not Be As Successful In His Era

I’m sensing either beef, hurt feelings, or a legacy threatened, but Michael Jordan is ratcheting the heat up on LeBron James at every turn. A day after saying he would take Kobe Bryant over LeBron because 5 rings are better than 1, Jordan took another shot at James. Jordan questioned whether the players of today could play during his era in the 90′s, and suggested only LeBron...

Former Lakers head coach Brown, knew D’Antoni was in trouble

Former L.A. Lakers head coach Mike Brown is one of the nicest guys in the NBA, however, that doesn’t always translate to much. Appearing on ESPN radio with Colin Cowherd he shed some light on being fired and replaced by Mike D’Antoni. Cowherd asked what his feelings were when released or fired and Brown responded with “I was shocked.” Only a few games into the season one...

Lakers’ Celebrate Homecoming With Win Over Suns

Photo courtesy of Harry How, Getty Images There’s no place like home. There’s no place like home… After two weeks and seven games on the road, the Lakers returned to the comforts of Staples Center to face a Phoenix Suns team who recently rallied in the final minutes of their last contest to beat them in the end. Looking determined to prevent the same ending, the Lakers got...
