The big announcement in the NBA today, and the worst kept secret, was that the Charlotte Bobcats would bring back the Hornets name to the city in 2014. The New Orleans Pelicans, left Charlotte after 2002 and took the name with them. Charlotte is reclaiming name with the change in New Orleans. But is it possible the original Charlotte Hornets would still be in existence had things...
Ah, the summer of 1996 seems so long ago.
At this point it’s a footnote to a Hall of Fame career, but remember that Kobe Bryant was once (very briefly) property of the Charlotte Hornets. The story goes that the Lakers and Hornets worked out a trade the day before the 1996 NBA draft, and that Los Angeles told Charlotte to select Bryant with their first-round pick at the very last...
In the debate of Team Kobe vs. Team MJ, Phil Jackson picked Michael Jordan in his new book “Eleven Rings: The Soul of Success.”
Kobe Bryant took issue with Jackson’s analysis in a tweet on Friday night, saying he and Jordan could not be compared.
The comparisons are #apples2oranges Wonder what the perception would be if M played wit @shaq instead #differentroles #differentcareerpaths—...
‘Kobe Bryant with the dagger!’ Literally.
On a nostalgic day for NBA fans with the news that the Charlotte Bobcats will once again be called the Charlotte Hornets, Kobe Bryant decided to have some fun at a bad decision the Hornets made in 1996.
Kobe tweeted out the above photo from his instagram (@kobebryant) and yes, he’s rubbing in the Charlottes fatal mistake of trading...
We have heard of athletes hitting up Twitter to refute phony reports, but how many athletes respond via Twitter to refute fake reports started by phony Twitter accounts? Kobe Bryant is one of those guys. Why? Probably because he relishes the opportunity to put his doubters in place, even if his doubters are make believe.
The whole thing started on Sunday night when a fake Twitter...
by: Michael Richard-Webb Really?? Me. Retire?? Soon, but not yet Vino still has work to do #35 #OG #kbvff — Kobe Bryant (@kobebryant) May 20, 2013 The Shaq & Kobe duo which was a dominating force from 96-04 Kobe Bryant had inadvertently fueled the talk over the weekend with a Facebook post about [...]
In honor of Charlotte's decision to change from the Bobcats back to the Hornets, Kobe Bryant posted a photo from 1996 after he had been drafted by the old Hornets.
Kobe Bryant is tired of being the subject matter of others books. I guess this latest Phil Jackson book, “Eleven Rings: The Soul of Success,” has inspired him to pen his own book. Over the weekend, Kobe announced that he had a “big” announcement coming. Many thought it was retirement. It wasn’t, Kobe and his foundation, “The Kobe and Vanessa Bryant Foundation” is teaming...
March 2008 ushered in a new breed of basketball shoe as the Nike Hyperdunk debuted for the Beijing games. Kobe Bryant soared over a car in a viral film playing on the shoe’s minimal weight, while athletes, commentators, designers and sneakerheads marveled at the Hyperdunk’s futuristic, bold aesthetic.
Designed by Eric Avar, the original 2008 Nike Hyperdunk seamlessly fused...
Kobe isn’t a dumb person, no matter what you think of Dwight Howard personally, if he leaves the Lakers, it will lessen their chances of winning next year.
Next year, maybe all that Kobe has left, so it makes sense that he will try to convince him to stay. He has no real alternative but to try to make it work with Dwight.
Lakers are ready to hitch their wagon to Dwight for the...
Thanks to my bud Joshua for this from Kobe Bryant's wife Vanessa's Instagram feed. He says:
it appears kobe bryant and his wife and also matt leinart were all chilling with a mini pony this weekend
And then Deadspin and KSK picked it up from our conversation, so thanks also to Muzthetruthspkr, Nick, TJ and Sean for the heads up from them.
Now I had set out...
It’s a tradition as old as baseball itself — the old dumping-the-beer-on-the-husband’s-head.
Oh, that’s not a thing? Well, someone better let Wrigley Field know.
A Cubs fan doused her husband with a cold one Sunday afternoon in what appeared to be a completely unprovoked act of malice. As the wife explained after the game, however, the suds-dumping was actually in retaliation...
For those of you who didn’t see the news on Friday – Phil Jackson always has been hesitant to compare Michael Jordan and Kobe Bryant. Until now. In his new book, co-written with Hugh Delehanty and entitled “Eleven Rings: The Soul of Success,” Jackson breaks down what separated Jordan from Bryant, the biggest stars and personalities that he coached during his Hall of Fame...
