The Toronto Raptors are more willing to part with Kyle Lowry than Jose Calderon, according to CBS Sport's Ken Berger. The gist is that Lowry has been in Toronto for less than a year, and he's already worn out his welcome. As far as destinations, Berger says Lowry could land in Dallas or Atlanta since he has just $1 million of his contract guaranteed for next season. But really, what could Dallas offer for Toronto's most talent-rich player? Raptors beat writer Ryan Wolstat tweeted taht the trade talk depends on who you talk with, and he finds that split "insane" for one big reason: Lowry has talent. Lots of it. And the Raptors need talented players if they're going to win games. Re: Raptors would prefer to deal Lowry over Calderon rumour: Depends who you talk to in organization — Ryan Wolstat (@WolstatSun) January 26, 2013 There is a split in organization between Lowry and Calderon. I find that insane based on many things — Ryan Wolstat (@WolstatSun) January 26, 2013 Lowry might be a prickly personality, but he's Toronto's most talented player, has a cheap deal, younger — Ryan Wolstat (@WolstatSun) January 26, 2013 There are a lot of ultra-talented assholes in pro sports. A lot of teams have won with them — Ryan Wolstat (@WolstatSun) January 26, 2013 Talent wins, especially in the NBA and being difficult doesn't mean you're a bad dude, just means you're ... difficult — Ryan Wolstat (@WolstatSun) January 26, 2013 Mediocre, nice guys are great, but they're not going to take a pro team very far — Ryan Wolstat (@WolstatSun) January 26, 2013 To those saying Lowry hasn't won much and PG must lead team, that's true too. If he were talented a winner AND a unifier he'd be Chris Paul — Ryan Wolstat (@WolstatSun) January 26, 2013 Very hard to find a PG with all of those attributes. Though Lowry isn't that, what he is is a big-time talent. And those guys hard to find — Ryan Wolstat (@WolstatSun) January 26, 2013 Lowry hasn't been playing like the guy we saw in Houston who was close to an all-star (esp. on D), but the talent is there — Ryan Wolstat (@WolstatSun) January 26, 2013 Long-term, Lowry is far more valuable to the Raptors. If he's freed from this timeshare, he's proven that he can put up beastly numbers.
