New York Knicks
Knicks' Coach Mike Woodson is clearly a defensive-minded fella. Looking to put forth that same commanding and gritty defensive effort their winning teams of the past had become known for was the same reason New York retained Woodson as head coach this season. So naturally, it's easy to understand why whenever the Knicks lose, the coach continuously cites the lack of defensive effort as the problem. It's the very area in which Woodson can help, and furthermore, improve enough to make sure the Knicks stay competitive in each and every contest. The Bulls may have killed the Knicks early on in Friday night's contest, but the fact of the matter remains that New York has only continued to sink themselves with such stagnant ball movement.Without the likes of Raymond Felton and Rasheed Wallace, the Knicks have experienced their first signs of struggle this season. Whereas many may cite the impact Wallace makes on and off the court (and his current absence) as the key to what...
BEST OF MAXIM
Knicks might get the lift they need on their long distance trip to London for Thursday’s game against the Detroit Pistons. Iman Shumpert might get called into his first game of the year since his knee injury. How much Iman will play or if he does at all is something we will all speculate since the news has come down from above. Although Iman is a welcomed addition to the roster...
New York Knicks big man Marcus Camby is expected to miss two to four weeks because of an injured left foot.
The Knicks said Friday that Camby had an MRI which revealed a strained left plantar fascia. He was hurt Thursday in a loss at Indiana, a game Knicks coach Mike Woodson said was probably the best he'd seen the veteran play this season.
The 38-year-old Camby missed much...
The New York Knicks had to deal with playing minus Marcus Camby for much of the season already, so perhaps playing without him again will not be too big a deal. But it's never a good thing to lose any player, even a role player. Camby re-injured his foot in the Knicks loss to the Indiana Pacers on Thursday. He had an MRI yesterday confirming a strain of the plantar fasciitis...
Episode 1 of the Jordan made documentary on Carmelo Anthony titled “The City That Made Me” focuses on Melo growing up in Red Hook, Brooklyn, and features appearances from Knicks legend Bernard King and Nas. We also hear in his own words what it means to play not just for the orange and blue, but the people of NY and the city that made him.
Aaron Rodgers may have been the first athlete to execute what is now known as the “Discount Double Check” celebration during a game, but New York Knicks forward Steve Novak has taken it onto the basketball court. Last season, Novak started doing the title belt celebration when sinking three-pointers. On Friday night, Nate Robinson decided to borrow the move after hitting two...
NEW YORK -- The New York Knicks recovered from yet another slow start, while Carmelo Anthony provided a surprising explanation for his own struggles in the first quarter in the past two games, saying he's been fasting for about 15 days. Anthony shrugged off a poor first quarter with a stellar second while the Knicks upped their defensive intensity and went on to a 100-87 victory...
Post Game Recap
Final Score: Hornets: 87 Knicks: 100
The Knicks were able to end their three game skid this afternoon against the Hornets, ending their four game winning streak in the process. The game started off poorly for the Knicks, giving up 20 points in the first six minutes as they had no answer for the Hornets offense led by Eric Gordon, but the Knicks kicked it into...
Marcus Camby is dealing with a strained plantar fascia in his left foot.
This is becoming a nightly occurrence a highlight play from J.R. Smith. In the Knicks game agasint the Pacers last night Smith was once again up to his old tricks.
Late in the 1st quarter Smith has the ball near the three point line, and then he decides to attack the rim. At the last second Pacers center Ian Mahinmi tries to stop Smith but that doesn’t work as Smith throws down...
Need to push the pace on Ray’s return
The realistic Knicks fan enjoyed their team’s hot, early start but was under no delusions about its shortcomings and vulnerabilities. And guess what, those weaknesses are starting to show themselves. Shocking, but the Knicks are old. Old is not necessarily the problem. The sizzling start to the season had a lot to do with chemistry, uncharacteristically...
NEW YORK -- Carmelo Anthony scored 27 points and Chris Copeland added 22 as the New York Knicks ended their three-game losing streak and the New Orleans Hornets' four-game win streak Sunday at Madison Square Garden. The Knicks overcame another poor first quarter as Anthony heated up in the second and New York opened some breathing room by the end of the third quarter in its...
Today happens to be one of those days where I wish I could choose two winners, as both JR Smith and DeMarcus Cousins are entirely deserving of this particular POTD. Each player threw down one of two remarkable slam dunks that, although very different, are almost equally impressive. Smith took flight from the fringe of the painted area and, having launched off of his right foot...
NEW YORK -- Kevin Garnett and the Boston Celtics might have gotten under New York Knicks forward Carmelo Anthony's skin this week, but the Chicago Bulls should be getting on all of the Knicks' nerves by now. Luol Deng scored 33 points and Carlos Boozer added 17 as the Bulls moved to 3-0 over the Knicks this season with a 108-101 win at Madison Square Garden on Friday night...
A visit from one of the Western Conference's worst teams would appear to give the New York Knicks a prime opportunity to snap a season-high skid.
The New Orleans Hornets, though, arrive at Madison Square Garden riding their longest win streak of the season, and Greivis Vasquez along with a healthier Eric Gordon have played significant roles in that run.
The Hornets' backcourt...
