On Sunday, mid-March seemed a lot like early January. Darko Milicic started, and Anthony Randolph played rather than sat out as a healthy scratch. There were 21 Minnesota turnovers -- far too many -- and the Kings scored 29 points off of them en route to a 115-99 blowout. Sounds a lot like the Timberwolves of two months ago, no? Some things have stayed constant this season. Milicic played just six minutes, scoring two points in yet another disappointing performance. Kevin Love finished with another double-double, 21 points and 11 rebounds. Luke Ridnour was just fine, with 13 points and five rebounds. But disappointing, a double-double and just fine weren't enough on Sunday. It's the variables that reveal the truth, that injuries and lapses tripped up this once-promising squad in its 46th game. If it were January, Michael Beasley would be injured. Derrick Williams wouldn't have logged 33 minutes and scored 16 points; his development has become a bright spot only in the...

Kevin Love and J.J. Barea had a few words on the Timberwolves’ bench last night

The first half of the NBA season was filled to the brim with goodness in Minnesota. The young Timberwolves looked to be finally turning the corner and were actually looked like a team with a pulse. But in the past month, they’ve lost Ricky Rubio to a season ending injury and they’re now in the middle of a three game losing streak. Frustrations are obviously high and those frustrations...

Wolves struggle to move on from loss of Rubio

MINNEAPOLIS This project is about more than basketball. It's about altering perspectives, about putting together something that warrants a shift in mindset. On the morning of March 5, the Timberwolves were 19-19, and in the wake of the team's 17-65 season last year, that seemed great. Better than great, even, phenomenal. It wasn't phenomenal, though. That's the...

According to Marc Spears, Timberwolves C Miller set to retire after season

According to a tweet Marc Spears of Yahoo! Sports, Minnesota Timberwolves center Brad Miller is set to retire after the completion of the 2011-2012 NBA season. Miller has appeared in just seven games for Minnesota this season, averaging 1.1 points, 0.6 rebounds and 0.7 assists in 6.1 minutes per game.A 14-year veteran, the 35 year old Miller was a two-time NBA All-Star with the...

Banged-up Wolves revel in all-important win

It was a third quarter to forget, but a night that the Timberwolves would do well to remember. It was closer than it should have been in Oakland on Monday. It was messy at times, more difficult than it should have been. But when the final buzzer sounded, the Timberwolves came out on top, 97-93, despite appearing as if they'd quit entirely in the game's third quarter. Until...

Video: Tyler Honeycutt posterizes Beasley

Sacramento Kings rookie swingman, Tyler Honeycutt, receives a nice dish from rookie teammate, and former BYU standout, Jimmer Fredette, with which he promptly posterizes Michael Beasley during the 4th quarter of Sunday night’s 115-99 win over the Timberwolves in Minnesota. Honeycutt only averages one point per game this season, and finished tonight’s contest with just the...

Wolves look to stop slide against Warriors

The Minnesota Timberwolves are showing frustration during a three-game slide that is costing them ground in the Western Conference playoff race. The visiting Timberwolves have dropped six of their last seven meetings with the Golden State Warriors heading into these teams' first matchup of the season Monday night. Minnesota (22-24) has lost five of six as it tries to avoid...

Timberwolves 97, Warriors 93

Kevin Love banked in a 16-foot jumper with 4 minutes left, then added an insurance tip-in off a miss by J.J. Barea to help the Minnesota Timberwolves keep their dimming playoff hopes alive with a 97-93 win over the Golden State Warriors on Monday night. Love finished with 36 points and 17 rebounds for his 39th double-double of the season. Luke Ridnour added 11 points and 10 assists...

Timberwolves-Kings Preview

The Minnesota Timberwolves need to pick up the pace if they want to stick around in the Western Conference playoff race. While the Sacramento Kings have a ways to go to get back in the mix, they looked nothing like one of the weaker teams in the league their last time out. Hoping to avoid a fifth loss in six games, the Timberwolves continue a seven-game road swing Sunday night...

In new series, ‘Darko Listens to Pop Music,’ Darko Milicic listens to LMFAO (video)

Granted, due to my frequent forays into blatant homerism here at SoB, it could be argued that I might be going a bit overboard with all these Minnesota Timberwolves videos as of late. There seems to be a new one released every couple of days (a quick perusal of the archives will provide sufficient documentation). [...]

Darko Listens to Pop Music – Episode 1

The Minnesota Timberwolves’ Darko Milicic lets his hair down and cuts loose to ‘Party Rock Anthem’ by LMFAO in this series debut of ‘Darko Listens to Pop Music’.  We have to say that the Timberwolves are pulling all of the stops to market Darko, and it seems to be working.  I’ve watched this 5 times already today.
