NBA Injury News:
Dwight Howard underwent back surgery last April. He's had the entire summer to recover, and last week he was cleared for full practice. However, Howard will not play in the Los Angeles Lakers' game against the Utah Jazz on Tuesday. The center has not been completely cleared for game action.According to Mark Medina of the Los Angeles Times, Howard is pain free, but the team will exercise caution before allowing Howard to play in a game. Coach Mike Brown says the team has Howard's long-term future in mind and will play it safe even though he has not experienced any setbacks."I want to play, but at the same time I want to make sure I'm in good shape," Howard said at the Lakers' practice facility in El Segundo. "There's no pain in my back. The biggest thing is trying to be in shape."The team has discussed specific return dates for Howard, says Medina. But Brown decline to discuss the specifics. Howard came to Los Angeles in a blockbuster trade in August. This came after months of speculation about where Howard would end up and whether he would actually be traded. Howard has spent his entire career with the Orlando Magic, but he was unhappy with the direction of the team. The Lakers are getting a superstar in Howard. The 26-year old is a perennial All-Star and has averaged 18.4 points per game in his career. However, his offense has not been the best thing Howard brings to the court. Howard's defense is perhaps his best quality. He has averaged 13 rebounds per game and 2.2 blocks per game. Last season, Howard averaged 14.5 rebounds per game and 2.1 blocks. Howard's injury is not expected to impact the regular season. His addition to the Lakers could be huge in their chances for another NBA title. He brings a level of defense the team has not had in quite some time. And his offense has improved immensely. Follow @hoopsinjurynews

I've seen some pretty interesting postgame interviews over the years but this one from Los Angeles Lakers star Pau Gasol might be all-timer.Gasol was being asked a question about Lakers rookie center Robert Sacre and he answered it.The most interesting part however was that Gasol didn't realize that Sacre was sitting right next to him:
The Lakers currently have four point guards on their depth chart, with Steve Blake, Chris Duhon and Darius Morris backing up Steve Nash.
Steve Nash was offered a three-year, $36 million contract from the Raptors, which was considerably more money than what he eventually received from the Lakers.
The Lakers were able to turn a series of cost-saving trades into the acquisitions of Steve Nash, Jordan Hill, Robert Sacre and Darius Morris.
Despite voyaging to Germany last month to undergo the identical non-surgical knee treatment that Kobe Bryant, Grant Hill and Alex Rodriguez have had done in recent years, Philadelphia 76ers head coach Doug Collins said yesterday that center Andrew Bynum needs … Continue reading →
ANAHEIM, Calif. (AP) -- Gordon Hayward scored 13 points, Al Jefferson added 12 and the Utah Jazz easily overcame Kobe Bryant's 23-point third quarter for a 114-80 victory over the winless Los Angeles Lakers in a preseason game Tuesday night.

As the NBA preseason rolls on, the Los Angeles Lakers faced the Utah Jazz and it appeared that Lakers star Kobe Bryant was already in mid-season form.
Watch as he rejects Utah forward Gordon Hayward like it was nothing:
Veteran guard Derek Fisher is eligible to return to the Los Angeles Lakers in the event that the team wants him back. NBA officials verified that the Lakers could re-sign the 38-year-old Fisher without a waiting period, ESPN.com reported. It was reported previously that Fisher could not return to the Lakers until next March because of a one-year waiting period after the Lakers...

Steve Nash is no longer a member of the Phoenix Suns, and yet, inexplicably, the Suns have decided to continue fielding a team.
Actually, we all knew it would come to this someday. We knew the Suns existed before Nash. We kind of figured they might after Nash, too.
That time has arrived. And hey, it could be considerably more grim. In fact, some people might tell you the fact Nash...
