Steve Nash and Kobe Bryant aren’t the only injured players on the Los Angeles Lakers. Guard Jodie Meeks missed practice on Monday and Tuesday due to a sprained ankle, but he told coach Mike D’Antoni that he will be ready and available for today’s Game 2 matchup against the San Antonio Spurs, according to Shahan Ahmed of NBS Los Angeles.Meeks has helped pick up the additional minutes made available by Bryant’s season-ending Achilles injury. It would have put even more of a burden on D’Antoni and Los Angeles’ bench if Meeks wasn’t able to suit up for today’s contest.Beyond Meeks, point guard Steve Nash also expects to play tonight. The veteran – who’s been battling hamstring and hip injuries – told reporters yesterday that he expects to return to the starting lineup for the Lakers.Follow @hoopsinjurynews

Los Angeles Lakers: Why Aren’t Howard and Gasol Taking 40 Shots?

This Los Angeles Lakers without Kobe Bryant, are really struggling for points and only three players have been consistent so far in the four games they have played without him. These three players are, Dwight Howard, Pau Gasol and surprisingly, Steve Blake. But the question must be asked, why are they not going inside on every possession and why are Howard and Gasol not taking 40...

Video: Lakers' Nash, Blake on Game 2 vs. Spurs

Following practice, Steve Nash and Steve Blake took a few moments to chat with the media regarding tonight's contest against the San Antonio Spurs. Kobe Bryant took his rap career more seriously than we suspected

At this point in time, most people roll their eyes when they hear about an athlete or an entertainer moonlighting as a rapper. We’ve seen the shtick before and the output has been largely underwhelming. Shaq actually had some successful and somewhat decent songs back in the day (Shaq Diesel anyone?), but the list is short. “I got money, girls, clothes, and cars, and I’m better...

Los Angeles Lakers, ISO: Guards (Any Will Suffice)

Pop praises Bonner's work down low

Commonly appreciated for being 6'10" and one of the best three point shooters in the NBA, Bonner's making his money against the Los Angeles Lakers not just from the work he's doing above the arc, but also the work he's putting in down low against Dwight Howard and Pau Gasol.  He played sparingly for most of the regular season, but with Boris Diaw out and...

Round 1, Game 2 Preview: Lakers vs. Spurs

A weird thing happened in Game 1, the Lakers (0-1) had trouble making baskets instead of preventing the other team from scoring. Usually, it's the other way around. What's even stranger is the scoring efficiency for both teams. The Lakers actually had a better percentage in shooting at 41.1% versus 37.6% for the San Antonio Spurs (1-0). Of course, the purple and gold...

Dwight Howard has vicious dunk against the Spurs

A mere seven-something minutes into tonight’s Lakers-Spurs matchup, Dwight Howard took it upon himself to connect on a monster dunk over the head of an unexpectant Tim Duncan (after receiving a stellar assist from Steve Blake, of course). Check out this slam in the video below..can you say vintage Dwight Howard??

Kobe's tweets a hit at NBA office

A headache for his coach, Kobe Bryant's tweets during a Lakers playoff game were a hit at the NBA office.

Jerry West on Mike D’Antoni Criticism: “I Think it’s Grossly Unfair”

Mike D’Antoni has been swimming upstream against the ire of Los Angeles Lakers fans all season. He wasn’t the popular choice to replace Mike Brown, who was fired after five games this season, and the Lakers faithful have appointed him the scapegoat for everything that has gone wrong for the franchise this season, everything except for the untimely passing of Dr. Jerry Buss. Some...
